Can you post pictures of the corals, point out what you see wrong, and explain what you plan to do about it? Please and thank you...

Ack sorry about the losses buddy!! You think your alk is the reason?

The alkalinity in the 25g wasn’t much higher than this tank so I don’t think that was the issue.

My current thought is the change in lights and the Gila monster was already on the fritz. The combination just did it in

All other corals are doing extremely well. Polyps out, growing at the base, keeping a lot of good coloration. Halide colors and LED colors are different for sure.

Some good news on this Friday morning....

The Gila Monster isn't dead after all but it is not happy. I have moved it to a much lower PAR area for now. See if we can bring it back from the verge of death. My bonsai is turning a very dark and rich purple. I don't think the camera picks it up too well but here is a picture:

Also, my Tunze pumps are growing coralline already.

Latest testing results….
Alkalinity: 7.7dkh
Salinity: 1.026
Temperature: 76.1°

I’ve started dosing iodide and iron. Very little. Couple drops of each is all. Why? Hoping to spur along some algae growth for my tomini tang. It still won’t eat nori from a clip and the nori actually scares it. The tang gets all frantic and darts in and out of the rocks. Will iodide or iron help? No idea but we’ll see.

Currently waiting on my fish order from Dr Reef and can’t wait to get more life in this tank!

Maybe be asking the question wrong but are you using the new hub/driver on yours or is it the older style blue dials?

Curious of your thoughts on the web portal. I am new to the Tunze family of products and while I like them so far I am a bit frustrated with configuring them. I admit that some of this is just becoming more familiar with the products.

I don't know about iodine but I will say that I dose iron (esv transition elements) specifically for my macro algae and it seems to help. Hard to quantify it to growth rate or speed but it has grown better since I started compared to when I didn't.

Hope your day is well.

I use the HUB controllers on them and have really enjoyed it! They are so much better than their old controllers.

It’s a little archaic looking but is also brand new. I found a video from Felix with Tunze and he spelled out how to use the functions pretty well. I need to spend some time setting them up more. I currently have them on random from like 10-70% and the modes last anywhere from 2-5 minutes

Thank you. Also thank you for the tip with Felix's video. I'll go find that and give it a watch. I've been watching what I can find so far with them and have enjoyed it.

Got this put together and a final coat of paint. It is extremely front heavy and wants to tip over. I anticipated this and will make a plan to keep it standing once I get it all put together. Likely tomorrow. I have wire track and power supply holders to keep everything tidy and easy to disassemble when necessary.

Thanks to @blennyhana for the inspiration to get it done!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Tested alkalinity yesterday and it was 7.7dkh. Seems the AFR dose is perfect for right now. I think I’m at 8ml. I am going to up the halides 30 minutes per day.

Did a 10% water change this morning along with a deep clean. Used a turkey baster to clean off the rocks and half the sand. Pretty sure the sand still has dinos going on but they don’t move to the rocks or hamper anything else so I’m just leaving them be. I also dosed coral snow for the first time to help clear out anything I kicked up.

No current pics of the tank as very little has changed. But here’s a picture of a puppy we are thinking of getting since I don’t have enough going on between 2 tanks, frogs, a kid, and owning a business 😂

Unfortunately, one bank of T5s isn’t working. I’m 99% sure it isn’t a bulb. When I turn one of them slightly it tries to fire but then stops. Not sure if it’s the ballast or an end cap issue.

I bought a 30” AI Blade but don’t like how they fit into the fixture and because it’s much heavier than 2 T5 bulbs it angles the fixture horribly. A second Blade would likely solve this so we will see if I go that route or not.

I am wondering if the Giesemann Pulzar or Matrix extension would fit where the T5s are at

Only 2 fish eat nori in my system.
File fish eats from my hand and the cleaner wrasse chases pieces around that the file fish breaks off.
Tomini and all other fish hide until the nori is gone.
So I feed them herbivore cubes and all the fish eat that.

I feed Seaweed Extreme pellets and spirulina flakes. The tomini goes nuts for both

Dr Reef is shipping out my fish order this week so it will be nice to have that complete and just watch the system grow

My order came in from Dr Reef today and once again they went above and beyond! All the fish look immaculate and I was sent an extra red dragonet and possum wrasse. I wasn't sure if 2 of each would get along but a couple quick searches shows it should work out. If not, I will have to try and pull them and put them in my 25g but that isn't ideal.

The 25g might be swapped out for an 80ish gallon shortly (I love and hate that idea lol)

Anyway, all fish are in the tank. The tomini tang isn't too happy about the flame angel so I will have to watch that. The tang jsut kind of chased the flame back into the corner. Not aggressively though and absoutely no biting or chasing. We will keep an eye on it.

Saturday = water change day

I am averaging a 10-15% water change every two weeks right now. Seems to be a good fit for the current schedule with work, house work, kids school, etc….

Current Parameters
Alkalinity: 8.3dkh
Temperature: 76ish
Salinity: 34ppt
PO4: 0
Nitrate: didn’t test
Calcium: didn’t test

With the extra fish and all the extra food PO4 still isn’t moving and multiple corals are going pale on me. I am going to start dosing 20ml a day of phosphate. Should equal roughly .02ppm daily. Also going to up ammonia dosing. All for reef will stay at the current dosage of like 8ml a day.
