The guy with the nicest acro tank in the Charleston group, has a sand bed. Too many beneficial critters we can't see live there, plus my leopards like their bed... once I rinsed the crap out of it, my ocean direct sand doesn't move. I think a good mix of medium and coarse grains help the sand stay in place. Although, I do need to upgrade my power heads.
No doubt we can have both sand and a beautiful tank full of SPS. For me being the lazy reefer that I truly am I just like the idea of no sand. Coupled with the WWC/BRS how to guide happening if Im ever going to try it it would be now. My Melanarus has been in a bare bottom holding tub for about 3 weeks now without issue...arguably happier than he was in the Reefer actually.

Back and forth he goes with no decision in sight! LoL

OK, I think Im done for a while with additions here. 4 In so far and we’ll give em a week or so to settle in. Pintail is currently peeved at me and diving into the rocks whenever i get close. He’s peaking out in one of the pics though.

The Orange one in the foreground around then is the Cresent Tail. The more pinkish one that swinws out from the back towards the camera is the Rose Band. I’ll shoot again in a bit after tossing some pellets in.
The crescent tail is the one I was looking at. C. lunatus. I just looked it up, very pretty fish. I'm not sure why I haven't seen that one already.

Some beautiful wrasses. Wrasses have quickly become one of my favorites in my tank. My ruby head fairy wrasse is hands down my favorite for color although I can't seem to get those colors to come through when I take pics of it.

Exactly how it went for me. Started with a 6 Line who quickly became my favorite fish until I wanted more wrasse. He wouldnt allow it so I pulled him and have been hell bent on fairies and flashers since.

Love their graceful movement!

He definitely caught me by surprise when I saw him on DD. Hadnt seen one before that either. He’s the smallest Ive got at the moment. About the same size as the Blue Throat actually but I havent been able to snag the Blue Throat yet.

Trip to the store for food.... sure got some food. Also a pair of impulse buys.

Grabbed a small Copperband butterfly and a single Fathead Sunburst Anthias. The CB will hopefully put a dent in the Aiptasia in the other systems while I transition to all frozen. Luckily we saw him take some mysis and brine at the store.

Resisted the urge to snatch up 3 Anthias but I had to have one! He's doing well but hanging in the shadows so hard to snag a decent shot. Here’s what I got so far plus a gratuitous wrasse group hug.

FWIW, I have used Carib Sea special grade in both of my tanks.

I currently have 2 xf250 gyres running in my tank with serious flow across the bottom.

Sand stays put.

Beautiful. I love CBBs. I'll look later when I'm not riding in the ol ladys truck with a bucket of chicken in my lap.
Me too. Just never had the guts to try one. Since he was on the smaller side and I saw him take some frozen we rolled the dice. Hes purty!
