I really like the Hawaiian black sand. Makes everything pop. Took a Looong time to settle after start up though. Diatoms forever. I finally put a fist size bag of Phosguard in the filter tower after about 6 months to suck out silicates. Been clear since aside from Aiptasia

Question: Is the purpose of a Euro braced bottom to provide more surface area to silicone the sides together, to prevent a glass blow-out?

Not a lot happening at the moment in the 110 so how about a few Biocube pukes.

Essentially yes. Im no engineer but as I understand it Instead relying purely on siliconed panes absorbing all the pressures the euro brace is sorta spreading that force out over a greater area.

Full round of tests complete in the 110. A couple surprises.
Alk: 6.4
Calc: 390
Mag: 1480
No3: 5ppm
Po4: 0
Have been hand dosing blindly for over a month. Having limited coral i wasn’t expecting much decline dosing 5-10ml a day of BRS mix. I should probably get the DOS’ running again. I had stopped dosing Triton because I didn't want to raise trace elements too.
Phosphate hitting 0 is also a surprise. Started to see a little cyano in one spot which prompted the testing. It had previously been elevated. Dosed a little Neophos I have sitting around and will feed a little more over the next week.

Yeah, i had an older version of the two little fishies rust on me. They sent me the new version that is sealed. I like their clip a lot and still use it. Th original version wasn't sealed well.

Hold either side of the internal magnet like this and try to twist/separate the bottom. The old version will come apart, the new version wont.
