Yep, I was doing the filter floss thing too and it just wasn't working out. You can click my build link to see how I did it and here is a link to the adapter I used to thread into the Red Sea adaptor https://www.pvcfittingsonline.com/3-4-x-1-sch-80-pvc-reducing-male-adapter-mpt-x-socket-836-102.html. However, I would just go 3/4" instead of 1", the adaptors at the drains are choked down to 3/4" plus if you were to look up flow rates for a 3/4" pipe, it's more than enough to handle turn-over. I got the 3/4" fitting here. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/schedule-80-male-pipe-adapter-1-3a6c2c9231df58107434b942fa600b22.html

Here is the Red Sea Adapter you'll need. You'll need to order these direct from RedSea.

Adaptor-3.jpg

You'll thread a pipe adapter where you removed the barbed fitting.

Then you'll hard plumb from there.
Very easy!
Thanks a lot! That was super helpful. Hope to have this setup next weekend.

Finished the breakout box connections while the cycle progresses.

Love the convenience of the toggle switches to turn on/off pumps, skimmer, flow, T5 and radions as well as cabinet lights and a master kill switch.

I was also able to wire up a momentary push button which has a cool red Led- might use it for a feed mode or maintenance mode- not sure yet.

OK guys quick question I’m about to get my red sea reefer 350 wet[emoji6] i’m using V2 sump
What is the best place for apex probes and dousing tubes?
Definitely return area. In addition to better temp detection, you will also avoid having bubbles from the skimmer area mess up your probes and reading.

Here is my Reefer 250 update guys. Replaced Nyos 120 with Red Sea RSK 300 and added a third AI Hydra 26HD.

How are you liking those light diffusers? I’m on the fence itching to pull the trigger.

I like them. They definitely help with the disco effect. Not sure how much par I lost, somImupped the intensity by 10%. Got them from 3dreefing.

I Am sure most know this...but just encase someone is searching R2R or this thread as I did, and could not find a deff. answer to my question.

the red sea part # # 42221 does indeed fit on the red sea reefer 750XXL withe barb taken off and the 3/4" x1 slip adapter screwed in + a good quality thread tape, you can plump with 1" PVC. I know a lot off ppl where doing this with the smaller tank like 170/250/350 but could not find the answer for the larger tanks.

so I am guessing if it fits on the 750 it will fit on all?

I am still on the fence if I like the V3 sump or not. plumbing in a manifold just seems odd on this sump design. I wish the return was on the left side like the older models. i get why they did the new way if you are running the ATO but come on on my 3' 90 gal I was evaporating a gallon per day so on the RS 750 i am anticipating around 2 per day so that little ATO just will not cut it. unless you can took up your RODI with many fails safes or run a fuge in it I think it pretty much silly.

what are your thoughts on the new V3 sump??

I custom plumbed a manifold into my 350 with a v3 sump and rotated the sump 180 to make it work. Still not thrilled with the size of the refugium, it's okay though.

Wow...for anyone contemplating removing the filter sock holders think long and hard. It was an absolute beast to get those thing out of the sump. Broke the freaking glass (of the baffle not the outside). Its done but man that was more of a job than I was looking for on a Saturday lol

I didn't think mine was too bad although I had to use a very thin, somewhat flexible razor blade knife otherwise I'm sure I would have broken some glass.

Haha I was cursing myself half way through but somehow got through it with a utility knife and scalpel. Scalpel broke half way through.

Did you get this piece off? Worried my Clarisea SK 5000 wont fit with it in but have no clue how I can get that out it’s like wedge between these other two pieces of glass where the ATO reservoir is supposed to rest on.

I left the ato ledges in and just removed the filter sock parts. You can look at my build page and I posted a couple pics of the finished part. I tried a utility knife at first and swore I heard the glass cracking!!! But then I found a super thin razor knife and got it to work. I was sweating it at first but made it ok!

Finished the cycle and saw no hitchhikers on the KP aquatics live rock after a few days so I took it out of the acclimation box. Remembered I had a pod hotel in my frag systems refugium so brought it up....tons of pods and a few other cryptic organisms. Seeing spaghetti worms and a couple feather dusters.
