Hello everyone just bought this frogspawn from my lfs it’s been in the tank for a day is this bad or ok it won’t fully

Skeleton, doesn't look like it is doing too hot.

Parameters of your tank?

Age of tank?

Light and flow?

How long have you had the coral?

Anything bothering it?

How did it look when you first got it?

My tank is about 2 months old I’m new reefer parameters are dkh is at 8 cal is little low 360 nitrite is 0 nitrate is 5 ammonia 0 ph7.5 pho .1 I don’t have a test for mag rn tho and he was half open when I got it didn’t look like that befor only thing I had in the tank was a peppermint shrimp cuz I had aiptasia I have since removed the shrimp since I seen damage to the coral

I wouldn't worry about testing mag. What are you using to test alk and calcium? Your calcium is low, while your alk is right on the cusp of being considered low.

Did you dip the coral?

What kind of lights are you using, and what are you running them at? (PAR too if you know that)

I would move it somewhere where it will get more flow

I don’t have a par meter but the the is a a036 believe it puts out about 100 par and I’m using I believe it called api test I just did a 25 percent water changed and thinking about going to lfs to have them test my water for me

You need to have the torch Frogspawn be at a higher par. About 100 par is suitable, but without knowing exactly the PAR I lean more on it not being enough

Where did you get the corals from?

From my understanding the lfs said it’s a frogspawn coral and it not Petco
Sorry missclassfication on my end. Regardless, it needs more light and flow. I also would ditch API kits; those are not accurate test kits. Get Salifert, Red Sea, or Hanna's to check your parameters.

I'm going to also tag the rest of the #reefsquad team to help out!

Ok thank u any suggestions on a better light that’s not to expensive and will it stress it if I move it to where it gets more flow

How many gallons is the tank? It might stress it a little but it would be better for it to get more flow than not enough

I have a 20 gallon aio innovated marine tank I have a wave maker I could move to get it more flow it is not controllable tho

I agree with Gumbie on his recommendations. However, that frogspawn isn't going to make it. Was it like that when you purchased it from the LFS?
Also, two months is still a very new tank. The stability isn't there yet.
What kind of light do you have?

A036 from Amazon

You are seeing skeleton. I have not had a coral recover from similar stages but I’ve read about real recoveries from far gone euphyllia. I can say that they respond well to iodine and cipro dips.

Cipro in particular has made my tank habitable to euphyllia when it previously wasn’t.
