I would suggest Crocea, they do not get big but can be a Giant focal point in your tank. I have had mine for a little over 3.5 years and in that time it has grown to 5 inches maybe a bit more in that time. I got mine when it was barley an inch long ,maybe smaller and it has done extremely well but the trick with Crocea is they love light. I have mine at about 400 par and in pretty high flow I never fed it phyto even though it is recommended but as long as they get enough light they will do fine. Crocea are rock dwellers so don't be afraid to keep one off the sand bed. Crocea are not cheap by any means but worth the price. I wish I had the pics of it when I first got it, so tiny but I do have a pic from 2 years ago when it was a little over 3 inches March of 2018 is when the pic was taken I will post in a bit. It's crazy to see how much it has grown from when I first got it. I will post a pic of it now when I get back home in about a week if I remember, lost my phone and I need to take a new pic.

@Xanthurum '
That clam is one beautiful clam. IMO, he does not look like a Crocea. The look, and the growth cause me to think that he is a hybrid. Crocea max out at about 6 inches or so and it take them a LONG time to get there. IMO, he looks like a SquamoCea which is a Squamosa/Crocea hybrid. There are Maxima/Crocea and Maxima/Squamosa hybrid also. I don't have personal experiences with keeping these but a friend, @outerbank, have several, along with his multiple other clams. Hope he comment on this.
These hybrids are difficult to obtain. From what I read the number of virable ofspring is low with these cross species so they cannot be raise in large number. I think they are sterile also, similar to the mule.
A few links on these hybrids

And a link on LA for these clams

Here is another pic from May of this year. I purchased it as a Crocea so if it is a hybrid so be it, I love this clam no matter what.

That almost look like a different clam. Did you change the lighting between the last pict and TID one?

@OrionN no but the more recent pic was taken late in the evening when my whites were about off so it appears much more blue and the other colors are washed out. I have had the same Radion Gen 3 Pros since I started the tank.

@hart24601 Nice score that's about the size mine was when I got it.

Wow that’s gorgeous! A bit small for my liking but it seems the provided picture was very accurate to the clam you got!

It’s pretty tough to find crocea much larger, you do find them sometimes but they grow so slow compared to other species the farms want to move them out and not hold them longer.

Yeah, I don’t see very many crocea in the LFS near me, and and when I do they’re from people who traded them in at the store cause they didn’t want the clam anymore. Do you mind telling us how much the clam cost you? I know they’re more expensive than maxima but I’m wondering how much more expensive? Do you think the quality of the colors is better and they are worth the extra cash?

I got my Crocea from ORA going through LA. I almost alway got Crocea at about 1-1.5 inches. Cannot afford larger ultra Crocea.
The one in the first picture, I got from a LFS many years ago, and these three (second picture) this year at about 1.25 inches. The Maxima in the 2nd picture I got last year from ORA via LA also

I am thinking it was around $200 or $250 but I can’t remember off hand, it was 6 months ago or a bit longer. I don’t really think they are worth the premium for most people, but I already have 2 maximas, squammy, 2 hippos, 2 derasa and a gigas and wanted a crocea to round out the common clam species in my tank!

I love its coloring. You are a proud parent of a bouncing baby clam!

I sometimes "collect" things. Bought a tulip, then one of every color. Got an iris, then over a hundred different ones. Then a day lily, then 60 plus different ones. Then hibiscus, clematis, now I have a 1000 blooms every year. Oh and peony live 50 years and even come in yellow. I am trying really hard to only have ONE clam. One bright blue clam with beautiful white markings through it. Or maybe a green one...no must stick to the blue!
