Hello, this is my first post here on reef2reef.
I have a 13.5 evo with an AI Prime for lighting
My tank is stocked with a ocelaris clown, six line wrasse, 1 squamosa clam, 1 small crocea clam, some corals, and a pincushion urchin.

Lately there has been some things that are concerning me like my rainbow monti started to bleach, my branching hammer frag isn’t fully extended, and my urchin seems to be losing some spines, as well as i’m starting to grow some diatoms on my sand bed…. it sounds like I have high nitrates but I went out today and bout a Hanna nitrate checker and it’s reading low.

I’ve tested for nearly everything that i could think of
(hanna) Nitrates- 3.7
(hanna) Phosphates- 0.01
(hanna)Alkalinity- 9.4
(hanna) pH- 8.3
Magnesium- 1350
Calcium- 400
Salinity- 1.026

I’m not sure what’s going on but

Your numbers aren't to bad. You want nitrates at 10 and phosphate. 05 to .1. Weekly water changes should keep everything ok on nano tanks. What is your lighting and flow?

What are you running filtration wise? Any carbon or dosing? As far as the corals I don't know a ton on treating those but the Urchin, is it a recent addition? It could be from stress from acclimation shock or if you've had him for a while it could be hunger, Is there typically a bit of algae or any large patches he can graze over? If you run your tank typically pretty clean maybe giving him food like algae wafers could help.

Your nitrates and phosphates are fine. Your corals look fine for the most part - and I think you have good flow with the Nero. Do you know what your lighting/PAR levels are? As for the urchin, hopefully he doesn't keep losing spines. Once they've lost a bunch they don't usually recover.

lol didnt even notice
Honestly, I was halfway through a reply about “what are you checking salinity with” and “could there be an electrical current or a magnet deteriorating in the tank?” When I noticed how old it was haha.
I'm spending way to much time on this site.
Yep, me too.
