I think my SteamPunk airship is coming out very cool. I will take some pictures when I have more of it put together. I love building this stuff. :D

I am working on what I think is the best lamp I ever made, but I say that about all of them. That airship is done so I may have to take pictures of it. I kept that piece for myself.
This new "lamp" has a bicycle chain movement and a firelamp inside, It was a vintage battery charger at the turn of the century. I will take some pictures as it progresses more. :D

Just saw this and it is awesome. I make stuff all the time from old car parts, pallet wood, and barnwood.

Here is the lamp I just made for my office (Excuse the bare walls, I am about to paint the walls this weekend) . The weed eater piston is actually the switch. The wire runs through the diverter valve in the turbo and comes out a hole drilled into the turbo.

Hey Paul, I was on vacation in Florida recently and ate lunch at The Mellow Mushroom pizza place in Mt. Dora, and thought that you might like their decor, so I took a few pics. I thought it was really cool stuff. Hope you and everyone like them.

Just came across this thread... Paul is kind of becoming a hero of mine. Now curious have you been to steam punk conventions? Yes? Dressed for the convention?

Nice creations all of them!

Chas, that is very cool. I love it.

Tryepercs, I have never been to a Steampunk convention.
I have been to fairs where my stuff was exhibited and it all sold in a gallery.

I am working on a floor lamp now. The base was a turn of the century Auto Clave that dentists used to sterilize equipment. It needs a lot more work but I am also building a steel wall in my living room for a fireplace and TV

Today I am designing another Steam Punk Project. Still in the very early stages. The bottom part is a 1910 or so Broadway light housing, I am not sure what the middle part is but it is some sort of timing device with all brass gears.
The top is from the Railroad in the 60s. It has some huge relays in it.
I have some bicycle chain and sprockets that may go on it and it will have a lot of lighting and movement.

Wow that's awesome ... I need to know how it works. The mechanic in me just has to know. Lol

The bicycle chain is run by a small 12 volt electric motor behind it. That and the red bulb in the middle are timed with a 60 year old electrical/mechanical timer set for about 30 seconds.

The thing in the middle is a very old mechanical timer that has to be wound up using that ratchet handle. It can run about 20 times with each winding and only runs for about 15 seconds. I have no idea what that times was for but it is old and powerful.

The big light on top and the "fire" light inside work by a simple switch not yet installed in that picture but I will install it today. The thing does absolutely nothing useful and is just a conversation piece which is why we are having this conversation.
The thing weighs about 15 lbs and is about 3 1/2 feet tall.

The top part is dated 1961 and was from a railroad.
