Tank birthday, 47+ years

I once maintained a large fish only tank in a Chinese restaurant. There were a pair of spawning tomato clowns in there. Woe betide anybody who put their hands in the tank anywhere near them. The teeth on them are enough to warn you of what maybe should you test them.
I read that as marinated and had to go take a second look... 😂

I need help on my reef. I have this macro growing pretty fast.

I didn't remove it because I kind of like it. I don't know what it is and am having trouble finding out. It may be tropical or from the Long Island Sound behind my house where, over the years, I collected a lot of water. It appeared a couple of months ago although I have not collected water in about a year and a half.

It is about 3" thick. I have been removing some of it from the edges because I don't want it covering the tank like my invasive sponge did but I don't want to remove all of it. It is difficult to cull it now just using my left hand but I want to keep it in check. If it gets too invasive, and my shoulder heals, I may try to remove it but for now, it stays 😎

Does anyone know what it is exactly? Some seaweeds are very similar but not quite it. It is covering about a square foot. Very cool, but I would like to identify it.

In my temperate tank, Dictyota started growing. I was excited at first, growing macros out of nowhere. Now it as become totally invasive. Nothing eats it. Every two weeks, I probably rip out a pound of it, it is just a 40g tank. I feel, this is going to be a total tear down to get rid of it.
I guess what I am saying is... you might want to pull it while you have the chance too.

I may remove it, I will see. Right now I can't get much of it out using only my left arm. My tank is a little high and I have to stand on a step stool to reach the bottom. I am just trying to contain it where it is and so far, it isn't growing anyplace else.

"Paul B." Signature "blue lightning double helix" algae. Now 50% off, only $350/ ounce.
I hope your arm heals well. Thats a long recovery and no matter how pretty the P.T. is its still not any fun!
I was all excited yesterday when I went to PT. A pretty girl called me in and had me lay down. Then she threw a hot pack on my shoulder and left. Then a guy came in and started twisting my arm around, then gave me isometric exercises. Now I can't move it at all. 🙄

Sounds about normal. 😬

At least I still have the pretty girl twisting my knee around. 😎

I started reading new tank threads and then decided to go through this one. I am on page 127. I feel like I am reading your diary but am learning a whole lot about reef tanks and certain types of fish. I am really glad you have been working on this thread for so long.
I'll catch up to current news someday soon. 😂

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE. (INCLUDING YOU BRITS) 🦃

My Granddaughter made Macaroni and cheese using 3lbs of cheese. 😎

I think you may have a long way to go. But 95% of it has nothing to do with fish or reef tanks. Sorry. 😬
That is just fine. I am very entertained reading it all.

I am about to start making some mac n cheese too. To bring to my sons house in a little while.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
