I've just turned the entire fish hierarchy (fisharchy?) of my tank on its head... so I'm prepared for something bad happen. All the fish from the Reefer, have made it over to the 90 with the exception of the black ice snowflake blizzard whatever they are called clownfish pair. They went to the Menagerie.
So far so good tho. My clowns are fervently protecting their trachys, the tomini tang is making it known that he is the biggest fish in the tank and its gonna stay that way, the melanarus wrasse is pacing but mostly leaving people alone. Every now and then someone gets spooked because another fish swam too close and they scatter... but, things are looking like they will work out.

Yep, Reefer is going to be freshwater. So far, everyone is getting along. Might have a little nipping going on with my acans... but I also need a water change, so they could be aggravated from that.

Funny you mention that, took pictures just a little while ago. They are over in the Menagerie. I'll update there in just a minute.

Water change day. Doing nearly the entire display today, as I have two fish to catch. The orange butterfly is 100% nipping at my fleshy LPS. Trachy, scans, scoly... it's all on the list except for blastos, oddly enough. Zoas are all ok for now. The melanarus is too large for my tank and needs a new home. He should calm down in a larger tank, but still dont think he will tolerate too many similar fish. The angels will stay for now, because I also have a soft spot for dwarf angels, and they are getting along with everyone. I havent directly witnessed them eating coral either. Nipping rocks and algae near coral, but they may turn to them later.
You can tell my trachy isnt happy about being nipped at. It's barely inflated. Orange butterfly in back of second pic, waiting for me to go away so he can eat more coral.
Tell tale trumpet kinda looks ok, kinda looks like it wants a water change. I need to pay more attention to this guy. (How many times have you heard that)
Sign that things are turning around... montipora starting to grow back and color up. Spongodes first, capricornis second.
And, get rid of one algae and dont correct the underlying issue and another will just take its place. This time its ulva. The GREAT thing is, ulva is edible. At least they tell me it is. My tang and these two angels arent eating it... they are overfed and lazy. I'll get an urchin here soon and that should destroy it. For the nutrients, Nitrates are being consumed immediately, phosphates are building up. Last test was 0.3ppm. So, I'm going to add a bit of GFO to my carbon when I change it out today. The gyre and return nozzles are covered in algae. I'll have to clean them at a later date. I just looked thru the cabinets and I'm out of vinegar. ;Facepalm

Old AC return pump from my IM 20 dropoff, and 50' of 1/2" vynil hose. Goes all the way out into the back yard and syphons, pump speeds things up a bit.
Going back now. Caught the orange butterfly. Melanarus buried somewhere. Got a few inches of water now. Gonna do a search.

I may have misjudged the amount of water in my tank and that Brute barrel. The BRS calculator always worked off of using 60 gallons as a baseline. I have a 44g Brute and when pumping out the sump it usually takes half of that so I figured 20 gallons, which would leave 40 for the tank. That seemed awfully low, seeing as it's a "90 gallon", but that's external dimensions and theres rock and sand...
Anyway, I'd say it's closer to 60 gallons, making total water close to 80 gallons, as my brute was a few inches from full and now its empty. Making more water now, I'll have to wait on the RODI, then salt to mix and then wait 24 hours before topping off.

Day after the big water change, everyone looks good except for the acans... the angels may be nipping at them. The trumpet got accidentally fragged, I dropped something and smacked it. We caught the orange butterfly and traded him in at the LFS. The melanarus buried himself in the sand in a spot of the tank that's neither accessible nor visible. He didn't come out until sometime today. Smart fish. I'll have get a trap for him.
We didn't come home from the LFS empty handed tho. They had a super tiny snowflake eel. 4-5" long tiny. We had to have it. My trade in was enough to cover the cost of the eel anyway. He's hiding in the the little cave that my brittle starfish uses, and my watchman goby, and my pistol shrimp... busy cave.

Oh yea, the duncan and goni opened back up today(yesterday? Idk it's almost 330 AM)... I had just glued them in permanent spots on the rock. Sorry for the lack of filter, I just snapped them without adjusting the color ballance.
