Angels and butterfly never needed nori. The wrasse and the goby didnt seem to care for it. The shag part would come off easily with a magnet scraper. Have to manually remove the base tho with a razor blade and elbow grease.jeez! I bet those fish never went hungry though

I meant because she must have been feeding a lot! I wish I could use a razor blade, or anything more serious than this little mag float or a credit card. Acrylic has its advantages, but disadvantages too :/

We got corals! Actually, we got corals almost a month ago but Brian over at Jamrock Corals has been keeping them safe for us until the holidays had passed, and then work schedule didnt line up last week and we had some bad storms over the weekend and beginning of this week.... but they are here!!! Everything looks super healthy and pest free as always with Jamrock.

Heavy feeding and only a skimmer for nutrient export. No water changes in 9 months. I'd test phosphates, but it would probably blow up my Hanna.

Dont be too jealous right now. All but the brand new one look like heck. Algae covered skeletons with receded polyps. Ordering some CUC soon and the angels are gone, so hopefully they bounce back. Just had to pay $300 at the vet so maybe next month for the CUC... come on W2!So jealous of your acan collection

Yep, for the most part. Daisy was HW+ when the wife rescued her. Shes been on iverheart per vet recommendation for about two years now steady and she developed a cough this week. Not a wet cough like heartworms causes but a dry hacking cough that ends in her sounding like she wants to throw up. Sounded JUST like kennel cough to me. She was due for her annual check up anyway, so the wife took her after she got home from work. Vet says the HW are finally dying off and the toxins they release are causing a mild form of doggo pneumonia. There is a medicine that you can give them to kill off the heartworms at once, but it's like flatworm exit(probably the same stuff, heartworm medicine is paraziquantel. It's hard on the dog because all the worms die at once and they all release toxins poisoning the dog's blood.) Her heart still sounds good and she hasn't been acting like she doesnt feel good and still has great energy and appetite.
6 months of iverheart for two doggos, 3 months of bravecto for two doggos, anual checkup, vaccinations and a steroid shot and antibiotics for Daisy... $320 something later and... pets are expensive.
Oh, we got her DNA test back too! Shes 37% chow, 12% collie, 12% boxer(dont see it) and 37% "hearding group." I see chow and collie.

glad she’s ok. Usually if they are eating fine, they are fine. we have insurance for Neo (he has better health coverage than I do!) it’s really cheap and covers 90% of medications and procedures...came in really handy when he had to have surgery! (Dumb dog swallowed an entire sock and it got lodged)

Oh shes a super sweet doggo... very loving, goes absolutely ballistic wanting hugs when I get home from work. She puts her paws around my waist and sticks her head against my stomach.

Speaking of getting rid of all the wifes pretty fishies... I told her she can pick out some fish to replace hers and showed her the reef safe wrasse selection on live aquaria. Mostly fairy and flashers with some leopards... she wants a fijian exquisite fairy wrasse... now to locate one that I dont think will have velvet.

Trachy is a little more inflated, definitely has some soft tissue damage but I don't think theres anything permanent as of yet. I'll keep a close eye on it in case.

Angels and melanarus traded as well as a gallon bag of chaeto. They had a bunch of lyretail anthias in stock, and we almost got a few... but decided we can get prettier anthias. I did come home with one of the new Caribsea lifelock coral trees. It's super cool. It's like a tree, but for corals. Lol, look for yourself.
Its 16" tall and weights 26.8lbs. It might actually be 25 or even 30, my scale has been known to be a few pounds off in either direction. Depends on its mood I guess. I'm going to replace the pile of branch rock on the right side of the tank with it. That's tomorrow's project tho.
We got a bag of "Reef Lemonade" also. Its phyto, pods, brine shrimp and maybe rotifers? Bunch of micro food. I put the return pump in a 10 minute feed mode and cut the corner off, dumping the whole thing in at once.

Coral tree is in!
Murdered a lot of zoas.... a lot. The middle arch had gotten overgrown. I had always planned on SPS to keep the zoas contained. Well the SPS kinda hasn't happened yet, so the zoas took over. Now that we have the tank back on track, hopefully we can keep it there and actually grow some SPS.
Don't worry, we still have a zoa garden on the left side of the tank... Kedd's Reds, Tub's blues, Gatorades, Blue Eyed Blond B*tches, Stargazers, Rainbow Fusions, Blue Hornets, some really tiny orange ones I cant remember the name of.
Anyway, I removed all of the branch rocks. A few pieces had sponges on them, so I saved them and put them in the sump. Yay sponges! The rest I'll keep for use later. The sump is holding all it can.
Acans dominate the bottom of the tree. Most of them look like crap. Still recovering from the great tank neglect, and I've re-arranged rocks three times in the last two weeks. Need to let the tank settle for a while before I do anything else. We're hoping they grow out over the base of the tree and form a garden.
I placed the birds nest and stylo on the ledge second from the top. They should get plenty of light there while saving the very top in case we start getting better at SPS.
One of the trumpet frags went on the tree about mid ways up, and the blood moon favia is on the middle ledge. The red monti cap that died off and has started to regrow went on the bottom ledge. I also forgot my red blasto out of water for oh, probably 2 hours. I pulled it off the branch in the 5g bucket and glued it to the rock. Didnt grab a pic because I was being rushed out the door for dinner, but it looked fine. I'll probably have to move it as it looked pretty shaded.
