Where do you get your snails from?

I know it's an odd question... but I am trying to ascertain how likely it is for the snail shells to have ich tomonts (cysts) before ordering. So I know whether or not I need to QT before introducing them into my DT.

Do you basically just pluck them out of the ocean and ship them out? Or are they "home grown" snails? If the latter, are they housed with or without fish? TIA

I collect my own from the ocean :) I've never had disease introduced from them before. I guess it only needs to happen once though.

Not to answer for John, but the snails are wild-collected and it's not really possible to keep them housed in separate tanks for 3-4 months for each individual collection. I've been to John's shop and there just isn't the room for that without some serious investment in custom tanks/racks/etc to go along the walls, which is $$$$
