My anemone has been looking really poor since about 2 weeks ago. Its stomach is partially sticking out. I think it may be a bacterial infection, but I don’t have a QT tank and this is a nano so I’m worried it might die and nuke it. Should I remove it from the tank?
I’ve had this red haddoni for years. It’s always been happy. It’s been through prophylactic treatment prior to introducing years back and one in tank treatment as a bystander which I don’t feel is related to this current issue.
It basically has a permanent feeding response/prolapsed mouth. It’s...
I have 2 maxi mini’s in a ~ 30 gal tank. One is beautiful big and fat ( we’ll call that one pancake) , has doubled in size in the last year I’ve had the tank and the other ( we’ll call that one flapjack) was big and beautiful but is behaving weird now. Pancake does have a big bubble on it I just...
Ive been in the hobby for years but only have about a year with saltwater and only have had a kenya leather, one zoa polyp, and a plate coral cant remember what it was. However i picked up what you see in the attached photos 4 days ago. The corals were all placed were you see them currently and...
Hey guys! I’m a new caretaker of some saltwater animals in a lab, and I have this tank of 4 anemones (and some hydras). The anemone in the bottom right corner has looked shriveled and honestly a little sick for the past few days. He didn’t eat the shrimp right away when I tried to feed him the...
Hello I have a small concern, I’d like it answered quick as no matter how many times I put this little bugger up right it keeps doing this.
So it’s always been happy but recently it moved into the front of the tank and hasn’t been doing so well, it’s been a month or two since it’s moved...
Hi everyone,
I've had reef tanks for a while, but this is a new tank - finished cycling in mid-June.
I bought this Sherman Rose. It's been happy, eating, doing great. It split Thursday. I understand they're trying to heal themselves, but I'm not liking the way they look. Any thoughts? Normal...
Idk how else to explain the anemone. If you look in my build thread, you can see what it used to look like, versus now:
It’s all small and weird looking. Any ideas on what’s wrong? For reference, I have two other BTAs that are perfectly fine and then seven baby BTAs in a quarantine box in the...
Last week I finally got a sebae anemone after weeks of searching for one in my area, he’s absolutely stunning and even has a bit of pink and green in him at times.
However, I just got home from work and saw that my BTA had moved right next to him and they were both somewhat closed up. I moved...
So my LTA has looked like this for two months now, he’s definitely not dead. My parameters are fine and he was thriving on the sand bed just below where he is now. The return pump was all gummed up (whoops, forgive me I didn’t know) but it was cleaned and the flow in the tank went up. Nothing...
Does it exists a pump/power head that is 100% safe from suicide anemones?
This question was born yesterday when my RBTA tried to kill herself into my Voyager nano 2000, she is totally safe (don’t know how is possible). Someone suggested The ecotech vortech mp10, but it doesn’t look safety than...
Hi All, wanted to ask you what you think about this:
Some nights, When the lights turns off my anemone (which I think is a Malu) closes like this, is normal? For example yesterday didn’t do that, the other day yes, just wanted to be sure this is normal, she eats normally, has the mouth closed...
Yes I know I have algae. I’m working to try and get it off.
Did a water change like 20 mins ago.
I just got this anemone this last weekend. It did great day one. But now it’s shrinking, closing up and I moved it ( I know) but it was like melting into the sand upside down.
5th pic was yesterday.
Im still new too keeping anemones and was wondering if this was normal if it was pooping or a sign of stress i have 3 other anemones that seem to be doing fine is this normal or should i be concerned?
Hello!
I had a wonderful purple LTA for a few years that sadly passed away last summer. I've been waiting and it seemed like the time was right when I found a new LTA that looked great at a local store (SomethingFishy). He was sitting on the sand and not buried, but looked good overall and I...
I have recently bought a new bubble tip anemone for my salt water tank. After testing my water and giving me the all clear the aquarium said I was ready for my first anemone.
He’s been in my tank now for a week and he’s moved around and settled right next to the pump. Overnight he’s gone from...
I got my black widow BTA about 6 weeks ago, and it picked a spot and has stayed there. But a couple weeks ago my female clown finally tried to get it to host her (she won’t let my male near when she tries) and it didn’t seem to respond. Since then she’s tried multiple other times and after a bit...
Hello everyone,
Long time post watcher, first time posting. This topic is probably already discussed, I just haven’t found it. This is my first saltwater tank.
I have an Aquatop 24gal Reef tank (with RedSea ReefLED 50) that is about 14 months old.
Livestock: pair of 2” clowns, talbot damsel...
Hi
I have started into the reefing hobby in February 2024 and have since learned and enjoyed it a lot. I have a 40 gallon tank and am quite happy with it.
My tank currently hosts:
1 clownfish
1 Centropyge bispinosa
1 mandarin fish
1 anemone crab
1 shrimp
a couple of snails
a couple of...
Hi, I have had several anemones (BTA) and each time the anemone ends up shrinking then dieing.
This one seemed happy until 2 weeks ago, then it started moving around. I have been away a few days and come back to it like this.
Any recommendations of what I can do? Parameters are all OK and...
I just bought a Zoa colony and it has 2 of these anemones on it. Any idea what type they are? I can’t get a really good picture of them but they are purplish with a green center. They look kind of like a Duncan to me but they do not have a stony base.
So I got an anemone a couple days ago and it’s been moving around quite a lot, until it settled in the corner of the tank, attached itself to the glass and now the foot looks like it’s shedding a layer of skin.
Not sure if it’s normal, any help would be appreciated.
I got my tank used, the previous owner had them for 3 year, I had for a couple of months now, but never sen it float around.... it was previously on the sand. Is it being playful or sick, is it trying to go back to the rock?
I was looking at my tank this morning and noticed one of my rock flowers was missing or at least I thought it was until I noticed it seemed like one had moved directly on top of another. Has anyone ever seen any behavior like this with these? I can see the skirt of both of them sticking out but...
