150 gallon tank build

Working on getting my first reef tank up and running :) Wanted a 6ft tank so i found this used 150 gallon tank with 2x4 framed stand for sale.
Came with sump, 3 chinese black box leds, maxspect gyre 150, heaters and sicce syncra 4.0 return pump.
Will be using this thread to document my progress. Opinions and advice are welcome along the way.

Seller was nice enough to deliver the tank and get it in the house for me so since we had the tank put straight on the stand i had to skin the stand with tank on top.. not as good as i would have liked it to look but was the best i could do

Ran into a bit of a snag after filling it up to test plumbing.. found out that the tank isnt quite level which is causing it to only drain through one of the 2 overflows.
Now to figure out a way to level this thing without taking the tank off the stand..

Thats the plan. Nust not sure how well theyre gonna go under there with the tank on the stand

Yeah its a tile floor so im hoping they can just hammer in there no problem but im worried that it wont be that easy

If you can swing it grab some of the plastic shims, and make sure you fill any gaps that shimming creates

Ok hopefully this does the job. I will fill it up tomorrow and test it out.

Level looks good from left to right but front to back is a little off.. will this be an issue?

A little out of level isn’t bad, a long as it is square on the top of the stand. If there is ANY twist in the stand at all, the tank will eventually crack or have a seam failure. Dead flat on the top is absolutely necessary.

Well i hope it is.. not sure if theres any way to check that now with the tank on the stand

What he means is that if there is any point where the bottom trim of the tank lifts off of the stand it could potentially be a problem as that would indicate the stand has some twist in it.

So i filled the tank up again this morning. Overflows are working properly now but im having alot of noise and bubbles in the sump from the drain pipe. Anyone know anyway i can calm this down

Filter Sock, close the valve a bit

Ditch the ball valve and use a gate valve instead. You can regulate flow alot more precisely that way.
