Hey Reefers,

Currently running a 60 gal, 36” mixed reef system with a budget Amazon SmatFarm G5 from my previous 30gal tall system. I’ve been slowly upgrading all my equipment and only have the lighting left to upgrade. What would be a great option for spread and par?

I only have access to 1 power outlet so running 2 XR-15’s wouldn’t be an option. Was looking at the XR-30 or AI Prime 64HD, but they state spread is only about 30”. Would the 24” Meridian be a good choice or does someone have another recommend. Currently have all ecotech pumps, so staying within the Mobius ecosystem would be nice, but not required.

Other than bar style lights, nothing is going to hit the whole 36" length with a single fixture. That means, you'll need at least 2 plugs. But, these work well for your situation.

As for the lights, if you want to stay in the Mobius ecosphere, then Ecotech and AI lights are your only options. Two XR15s, Hydras (Edge or "regular") or Blades will all work.

Personally, I run a pair of older Hydra 26HDs upgraded with LED pucks and lenses from @luxdium (The BEST option, IMO!) on my 65g AiO with a similar footprint.

If you want a good spectrum in a bar style light, then a combo of Quanta Helix Meso Blue and Tropic Sun bars would be a good choice. It would take little more work to get the controllability of some of the "big names", but the spectrum is worth it,

Mobius and lights just doesn't work for me. Mobius has trouble keeping track of the correct date and time. It isn't an issue for everyone but for me it has been a problem for years and why my Gen 4 xr15s are shelved. To many times I would get up in the middle of the night and the lights would be on.
Just last week it was out of sync but I only use it for powerheads now.

The device clock is perfectly fine but Mobius isn't

I have a meridian 11 over a smaller tank buts its only been running for a few months so its too early for me to say its great but it's supposed to be better than the photons and I love those.
I've had two photon 32s over this 36x22x22" tank for 3 years.
