I’m pretty happy with the diy co2 scrubber. Keeps my ph above 8.2 all day/night.

I just added some coral I picked up during @calikidcorals live sale. I’ll post some photos later tonight once things are settled in.

On Saturday I was participating in a live sale, sitting on my couch, when I hear a wet thud and then a fast slapping sound behind me. I turn around and see my earls is flopping around on top of the table over my reservoirs. So, I jump up and get him back in the tank and all seems fine since other then he hasn’t been eating frozen food. He will eat pellets just fine but I have to stand around the corner and toss them into the tank. Lol. I could just use my feeder but I want to make sure he’s eating and if I stand by the tank he will hide in the rocks. He is also actively hunting all day around the rocks. Hopefully he stops being so picky.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for quite a few years. My clownfish have finally laid eggs. Ive bred them before, about 5 years ago and plan to raise the fry from these. Looks like it’s time to place an order and get some supplies.

Really getting things dialed in and the coral seem to be very happy. Couple of the favias and chalices I picked up recently.

Decided to get back into the hobby a couple months ago and decided I wanted an 80g shallow tank. Placed and order that was canceled about a week later and they told me they didn’t know when they would have more. I had already built my rockscape and ordered all the equipment. So, I was stuck with that size tank and had no choice but to go custom.

I ordered a 48”x24”x16” low iron tank from Glass Cages. Three 1.5” drains and two 1” returns. Decided to go with an external coast2coast over flow as well. I will likely use a bean animal style overflow.
I just picked the tank up yesterday and need the loc-line to come in but should have it wet by this weekend.

Equipment list:
Two eco tech radios g15
Varios 6 return
Vertex Omega 150
Eco tech mp40qd
Eco tech mp10qd
Neptune Apex
Dos(awc)
3 - Bashsea ss-10
Tunze 5017
DIY algae tank scrubber
Dual reactor

Looks like I need to run to the hardware store this morning. We had a power surge last night and my emergency overflow ran most of the night. It’s a bit too high up and was causing water to splash out of the sump. Only a gallon or two, so no big deal but it could be if it happens when I’m not around. What a fun way to wake up lol.

Well that power outage caused a little problem. My emergency drain was splashing a tiny bit onto the lip and the sump and then falling inside the stand. I never noticed it before on trial runs because it was such a small amount but over 7hrs or so it added up to a couple gallons. That ended up being replaced by the ato and dropping the salinity a bit. The clownfish ate all their eggs that night but I’ve got everything fixed and back to normal.

This made me start thinking about a battery back up, I’ve already got a generator for long term power outages. I’ve been looking into something to run my return pump for up to a few hours but I’m not having much luck with anything that can also work with the Apex. Either the eco tech or IceCap would be perfect, if they worked with apex. If anyone has any recommendations, please , fire away!

Since the last stand was too cramped inside I decided to move the equipment out of the stand and into its own cabinet. I figure it will be better for it in the long run being away from the humidity and water inside the stand.

my lazy butt finally got a door finished over the weekend too lol.

Oops. I had precut everything and realized I forgot to cut a piece, so I grabbed the first piece I saw and cut it to the size I needed. Yeaaaaa, that was the piece I had cut for the door. Whoops!

Solution. Still not sure if I’m going to fully sparser the top and bottom, maybe make it for storage or just make it an “access door” lol.

I need to grab some shorter screws for the hinges on the door side too.

I can’t wait to see these chalices when they grow out. The favias seem to love that ledge.
