I saw a YouTube video on Reef Builders on lighting and decided to experiment. I usually don’t run reds in my tank but I feel foolish now. That flame angel you’re looking at is exactly what I’m seeing with my own eyes. I shot it with my new iPhone 12. It looks crimson! And you can’t even tell that the red light is on. If you have red fish and control over spectrum and you’re not using it, you’re missing out. I added it to my schedule for the last hour before ramping down 4 weeks ago with no ill effects off an AI hydra 32 and Prime 16. I’m still in awe. Try it out if you haven’t before and post a pic right here. Let’s see some other scarlet fish!

Awesome thanks for the tip. A good thing to think about while selecting my stocking list. How (if at all) does it affect corals, particularly reds/pinks? Wonder if it would do the same.

Even some corals. We’re missing so much beauty focusing all on blue. Some colors are amazing in different lighting but get just washed out with blue.

No, the criminal in my tank is the fox face. Acan serial killer.
That's funny. I've never had an issue with fox faces. I may try a flame angel when my sps is fully gown in. I currently have a Lamarck, which is reef safe, but not not so visually striking.

Nice looking tank by the way!

Does the flame angel nip at your sps? I've always wanted one.
Mine will peck at coral when he's not chasing every other fish in my tank. I'll never get one again.
