Cleaning a tank

I had a severe hair algae problem I battled for months and finally gave up. I'll be starting over with all new live rock & sand.

My question is what is the best way to completely clean the tank? There is hair algae in the overflows.

I just want to make sure it's all dead before I start over.

Hitman, Other than drying it out and scrubbing everything, you have few options.

have you looked into a product like Algaefix Marine? I used this on my 180 with very very good success. this isnt the best shot but you can see the clumps of it well. this was ALL OVER my 180. I dosed algaefix for 2 weeks per the directions and it was GONE!

you must solve teh nutrient issue that is feeding it. run GFO, Bio pellets etc...

Yeah I used Algaefix marine for about 3 months. I was using GFO. I didn't use biopellets, but I already have a reactor and plan to use it from the start this time.

are u using ro/di water and is your skimmer up to par
