Current LEDS going out

I've currently got a 20g L and regretfully like many beginning hobbyist I went cheap and ordered a LED light strip off ebay with a timer that was made in China and they're already going out after one year. I've got frogspawn, torch, duncan, zoas, hairy mushroom, anemone, some polyps, and a new SPS coral I picked up for $5 today that I figured I'd give a try; which at the time seemed like a great idea until I realized my lights were going out today after I got back from LFS.

The one I've got now is similar to the Current USA Orbit Marine

Which brings me to my next point... I NEED NEW LEDS!

But I've got no idea where to start. I'm fresh out of college so don't exactly have large sums of money but would really want to get a quality light that hangs or is at least elevated from my tank.

Here's the other twist... I plan to move on to a 55g tank in the next year so I want whatever LED lights I get to be transferrable even if it's only one of the two that I'll need at this point.

Any advice on LED lighting or links that I can get some new coral lighting for under $150?!

Not sure if you will be able to get a single light fixture to handle a 55 for under 150. Look at ocean revive t247 great fixture but run around 150'per

That's what I got prior and they burnt out after a year not all of them but several of them are burned out.

Awesome those look great! Price is a little bit much right now but hopefully I can save some money up and get some within the next few months.

Anybody have any opinion on hanging or brackets? I have brackets on my lights right now and they just get coated with salt so I have to continuously wipe them down.

You can consider some diy led's. A twenty isn't going to need a lot. Unfortunately quality lights cost more than cheap lights. Do you have any idea why the cheap led's are burning out so quickly? Is the room hot or is salt getting into the fixture. Brackets shouldn't be showing a large amount of salt buildup so if they are do you have air or water splashing on the brackets? Some threads show members hanging lights off large wall brackets. If you know an electrician he can bend you some emt(paint it black) to mount on the back of the stand and bend out over the tank to hold a light. If you're not worried about appearance you can buy black jack chain at the lumber yard and hang it from the ceiling to support a light. I have a half dozen of the cheap Chinese fixtures and some of them are over a year old and still working well. They're all mounted at least 10" above the tank and kept clean of dust. I don't expect them to last as long as a quality fixture but for the cost they seem to do a good job of supplying light to my corals. I don't remember the name but there are some long strip led's that you can add modules to as you need more light. They're still pretty pricey though.

Maybe they have it, or contact direct, those brands are starting, so they sale direct even 1 lamp, not sure if the price will be ok tho, I do not think so.
Or go for AI they are not so expensive, and Vega models are in sale is several places. AI Prime is on sale at 199 or so.

What I believe happened is that one of my filters was splashing water on them and it got into the fixture unfortunately. Theres about 4 LEDS that are out now I'm not getting too worried yet but I will be going and getting a new light as a I'm able to do so. Ya these lights are maybe 3 inches away from the top of the water but I'm only using what came with the lights when I ordered them, so cheap little brackets that just pull out of the light

Some Chinese leds have poor heat dissipation so easily burn out, the other factor is quality of the leds

Reading a few post, it all depends on your budget. I have the Orbit Marine LED's and they work great. Orbit Marine has a newer LED, the pro version out now. Myself I am thinking of upgrading but the price tag is pretty steep. The reason I am thinking of upgrading is if I can do better I will. I am very happy with my Orbit Marine LED now but is the pro better? so to answer your question yes the Current Orbit Marine will work.
