I guess the name has changed in the last year to Petrophyllia rediviva so might see it as that too elsewhere
Give you the 411, a FB friend lives very close to where it's harvest from and she hasn't seen it for years. Bummer

Yup def bummer...I bet it is because no one bothers going where they are found...

It's found off Rat island on the coast of Queensland in sheltered turbid water with no reef structure. Interesting thing to note is they exist in a tidal zone and undergo strong salinity changes

You would probably need someone to go looking for it on purpose...

Looking pretty darn good doc !!!

Couple fo stupid questions - how do you manage nutrients in large tank ? Or rather what’s the largest tank you have there dedicated for these ?
How do you manage aiptasia with heavy feeding ?

Those are very good questions, thanks for asking

The foods I feed, I try to control first by using Pacific oysters to consume excess food, I believe one oyster for every three gallons if it's NPS tank. When the food breaks down to nitrates and phosphates, then I use dry Rock, I started using again a sulfur denitrator, and a protein skimmer that is on only on daylight hours, the skimmer is for heavy feeding I think 90 gallons is the size. My nitrates are still high I believe 50 PPM, but that's fine for me, and to control my pH and other elements in the water I have a large reactor that has argonite sand and water flows through the sand and keeps the pH at least 7.8 at this time minimum. Right now I'm planning to add possibly LG scrubber or macro algae and a lot of sponges. To help with additional export of nutrients.

As regards to aptasia in the aquaculture tank, I have very very little, because there's really no lights except for one sump tank that is glass and that gets some sunlight, but still I have no breakout aptasia all most no brown algae, most is green algae.

Now my Nano tank that 7.5 gallons, again that has light because I have some stereonephthya I'm taking care of for a relative, and very very little aptasia and some brown algae on the glass but that's it nothing that's out of control or makes the tank look ugly. so I think the Pacific oysters are the number one reason for no breakout of aptasia, brown algae and cyno

So whatever tank you set up always have Pacific oysters to control the ugly syndrome that tanks go through in the beginning and throughout their life it seems like.
