Pitbull or Bear Trap !!!

My views on crime are rather draconian and old fashioned. I live somewhere they are never tested. By choice.

It appears to me civilization is eroding away.

It is sadly. Parents no longer parent. Parents are also more so separated so there is usually only a Mother and not a couple or extended family. People are not taught to listen to authority. And above all the youth today and millennial's believe everyone is equal and should have what the harder working, risk taking people earn. Utopia.

2 things I hate most, liars and thieves.

When I first moved in I stayed pretty quiet, resulted in a couple items getting taken from the bed of my truck. I actually got so mad I threw a chop saw in the back of my truck with it wire cable locked to the side, drove around the neighbor hood hoping whom ever was taking my stuff would see it. Knowing my stuff was taken between 10-11 at night (i get up every 2 hours for some reason) I ended up catching the kid, got him in the side of the neck with a 2x4 then pinned him to the ground by his neck. I calmy explained to him what I use to do in the military and what I'd do to his family and kids in front of him if he had any, if I came up missing anything again. Didn't call the cops, just let him go. Ended up being the next door renters daughters boyfriend. Long story short, nothing has come up missing or no one in my yard for 6 years counting.

I don't talk to anyone in my neighbor hood. No idea what they think of me. With the exception of my one neighbor. He's a nam vet. I cut his lawn, put his trash out, and do his snow removal out of respect. Very nice man, love talking with him. Always tries to pay me, I might take payment 2 times a year from him (20 dollars) just out of respect.

I too now run full cameras at my house. I also make it know I have more guns on hand then our local swat unit and enjoy cleaning my ar's in full view of my neighbors, when dirty. none are stored at my house, but no one knows that.

Michigan being a open carry state I will sometimes leg strap pistols when I take the dog out for her evening walk. I like to make a firm statement to the neighbor hood kids. They may not remember what I look like, but they remember what the dog looks like, and the gun that went with it. This is a rare occurrence I usually only do if I catch someone (that fits a profile) on camera looking a little to long at my stuff or multiple passes.

Sometimes you just need to make people think some targets are not worth it.

Now I enjoy long range shooting, 1000 to 2700 yards. And I do love my guns. But I am not a gun nut that totes a pistol around in public. I do not conceal carry as I feel no need for it in my daily travels.

My Burban is scary enough as it is. Plus a reflective blue stripe the length of the back window for my brother and support of my local leo's.
For a second I thought you where my brother. He had a guy watching his house. His daughter came running into their room screaming there's a guy watching me through the window. My brother grabs a gun runs outside chasing the guy. Never caught him. The police tracked him with a dog to an intersection. Last they saw of him.
That was also in Michigan.

More like people make their own choices. If someone wants to blame me for the crappy choices my kid is making (which he is) then so be it. But he was taught right from wrong and now as an adult chooses the wrong thing. I introduced him to law enforcement and consequences as a teen. Cant make people do the right thing unfortunently.

Little confrontation goes a long ways in changing people perception.

I also hate lawyers. Add them to the list...

Litigation is almost as bad as social media. The cop was right about what would happen to the dog and owner had it bitten the guy under the car. Dog would have been put down and thief would have gotten a lawyer to sue for riches.

Cameras are more valuable than guns now. While you probably survive an attack, do you survive the litigation after you shoot someone?

I pray for our country every day. I also vote with my brain and not my feelings. Put up cameras to catch and prove crimes and vote vote vote for people that will do what’s right.

We’ve got a mess on our hands in this country. We’ve got to be smart with how we fix it.

Ignorance is bliss. You seem very happy.

I mean the whole "My generation is so much better, the new generation is screwing up society!!" stuff. Pretty much the line of every generation in history. Your great-great grandparents, great grandparents, grandparents, etc. Yet progress continues :) .

Valid point - you can teach but at the end of the day there is also the individual who needs to make the choice. We would probably both agree though that it does start in the home.

True, but some generations had a reason or a cause.

I said nothing about generations.
There is a pervasive ignorance of how things used to be.
No drugs everywhere. No people getting shot everyday. No neighborhood crack houses.
The post above. We fear protecting ourselves now.

Things are great. Shelter in place. Nothing to worry about. Help will arrive soon.

Oh I see where you are coming from- we need to make things great again? When was that- I forget.

This is a related topic, how many of you are in an area were hitting mailboxes with bats, hammers, bricks, etc. is common. Where my parents and grandmother live we have more issues with this then thefts fortunately.

Have a nice day. You cant even speak freely here.
People will be offended. LOL
