Used dr tims amonia and one and only 2 weeks ago amonia is 0 but nitrites and nitrates are off the chart even after 2 water changes one 20% water change and one 40% water change 2 days ago. Both are dark purple and red with api test kits. What should I do.

You can’t measure nitrate in the presence of nitrite, so, forget about that number.

A water change should have produced a detectable change in nitrite level. Is the test working properly? Dilute a sample of aquarium water with freshly made saltwater and test it to confirm the nitrite concentration declined. If it didn’t, nitrite test could be broken.

For salt water organisms, nitrite is less toxic than for fresh water organisms, How high is the nitrite?

If the ammonia decreased from 2 to 0 ppm, most folks proceed with adding live stock at this point.

I have a aquarium service his test had same results this is 1 day after water change. Even 1 hr after water change was no change on either test

Throw API away.
Try Salifert for nitrate.
Your cycled or you would not have zero ammonia and nitrate….just forget nitrite…
