ESHOPPS Mariner 70 Build

I'm kidding!!!

Sort of.

My dogs would likely totally eat the cat.

Tim,

Am I remembering correctly that you are using two XF330 gyres with a Wave Engine or maybe a Wave Engine LE?

I'm wondering first how you like the Wave Engine as a controller, although I've finally come to terms, somewhat, with the Maxspect app and about what setting you are using on the 330s.

I have two (actually four since I have two spare pumps) XF350s and I'm seriously considering trying to get my hands on a couple of XF330s as the I have the 350s dialed way down and usually only run one as both, even dialed way down cause sand blizzards.

I have an IceCap Jump 2K and a XF330 currently but I'm considering changing the Jump 2K over to XF330 (since I printed the hanger for the XF...).

Using a WaveEngine LE (consider changing over to the WaveEngine V2 when I change to the XF).

Jump 2K is on random 30%-60%
XF330 is on random 30%-70%

They're running through the Hydros on an Ocean Swell at max 65%. So basically, from my understanding it swells from 0%-65% of the random percentage. I could probably change the Gyres themselves to not be on Random mode and make it truly be Ocean Swell mode where one turns down while the other turns up back and forth but everything seems happy how it's set.

Thanks. I had a Maxspect MJ-GF2K (basically a slightly downgraded XF330) on the tank for a while but decided I needed two. Instead of buying two XF330s I said to myself: 'for a little more I can get XF350s just incase I ever go with a bigger tank'. I've always been of the opinion that if a Ram 1500 is good, a Ram 3500 dualie is better. Not always a good assumption when it comes to reef gear. I'm running one of the XF350s at no more than 40%, right now in pulse but usually random mode. If I go above 50% I have a bare-bottom sand globe. Part of the issue is that it is a shallow tank but the bigger issue is the pumps are just way bigger than the tank needs.

Why would you change from the Wave Engine LE to the Wave Engine V2? To control other pump types, or some other reason.

V2 has 0-10V in and out option. Also has the 4 powerheads vs 2.

Zapped a few more Aiptasia that didn't get fully zapped yesterday. Hopefully I fully zapped them today.

The mother colony has grown so large it shades almost half of the tank and it's getting so thick and unstable that even the fish can't sleep inside it anymore. It's already fallen over multiple times and killed a couple of corals.
Are you able to trade it in?

I'm considering emailing him and asking what he would require in trade for a Hydros Launch. I've got a frag set aside for him that was 15 polyps. I think it's around 25 now. 😬

Maybe I'll shoot him an email asking about 25 Strats, a MASSIVE Birdsnest colony and 4 or 5 Joker Anemones...

That's like $3000+ worth of coral for a $500 controller.
He could sell what you are offering for way more than $500 for a controller.

One of his employees is going to pay me $100 for a couple of polyps eventually. She already bought a 4 head frag for $100 but it died due to negligence so she wants to buy again.

Hey @tbrown I see we’re from the same area, do you know if any of our local stores do trade ins on live stock for credit?
Yeah.

Aquaholics - reach out on Instagram messenger
Kona - email pictures and how much you'd like for them
Discount Aquariums - reach out on Facebook I believe

Others likely do as well but I've not gotten any responses from That Big Fish Store. I never tried contacting Ocean Floor or Limited Edition Corals.

Yeah.

Thanks! Aquaholics and LE are my go-tos so I will check in with them.

I've traded in a couple of corals to Aquaholics. They're fair. Not a ton of money, but they're fair prices. Small coral selection.

Yeah, I like them for the supplies side of things. LE is great for corals and fish, but a little bit of a drive.

I’ve got a one spot fox face that is making me mad nipping my sps and I’m considering getting rid of him. Or scrapping the sps idea and just going to a LPs/softy tank and keeping him, decisions! Lol

So after the tank crash of the 75 you'd think I'd learn my lesson. When people start struggling with algae and can't get rid of it no matter what they try I always try to mention the magnets in their tanks. But when I start struggling with GHA again I do a water change, install a fleece roller, print a turf scrubber, etc...

Then, as a last resort AFTER Tom and Ocean talk about it I print a Gyre hanger and remove the magnet from 1 of my powerheads. BINGO! Even without visible rust on the magnets the GHA is receding.
