I hadn't read the book since probably 75-76. Th movie was made in 1969. To my recollection of the book they did a fantastic job
Thanks for the good information, that was about the same time I read it. The movie came out two years after I was born, no wonder I never saw it!

That sounds familiar. Was Christopher Reeves in that movie? I'm almost positive I read it as a kid
I think Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymore were in a movie Somewhere in Time. I loved that movie!

Oooooooh Yeah!!!! That was a good book as well. Kind of a chick book, as I lost yet more of my manliness when I read it. And trust me....I had VERY LITTLE manlihood back then!!!!
It's ok, I liked it too. Just don't tell anyone

I don't know about the movie, only read the book. It is about a young boy trying to find his father. He comes across a character in the woods nearby named Mrs. Who. She tells him she can put a wrinkle in time to get him where he needs to go. Like taking a piece of string, stretched out with an ant at one end, if she brings the string together with her fingers , thereby putting a wrinkle in it, the ant can be at the other end, without having to travel the distance. It's a very cool story.

Yeah, I was thinking Somewhere in Time. Great book, great movie. But DEFINITELY a chick-flick. But I gotta admit I dig chick flicks. I'm man enough to say that I actually CRIED during the Funeral Scene on the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. Great movie. But I gotta control myself EVERY time I see it, lol!!!!

Thought of one more today. Something my Mom insisted on. Flowers for Algernon.

I had a paper to write on a book I read. So I took a different route. Instead of talking about the book, I continued it to an end that made sense to me (9th Grade Mrs. Shaw). In my story, the main character declined SLOWLY. And it was done in the first person as a series of journal entries. And the last page was simply a death certificate. Scored an example at the Library. I remember being SO happy I didn't have to guess. Got an A+. She asked if she could keep the paper. I was thrilled. Said yes. Now, I'd like to read it, but it's gone.....Too bad!

And this thread reminded me of it. It is a good memory. I was a pretty fair writer back in the day. Got that from Mom. She was actually published. A sweet book about a baby that didn't live long. An experience she had as a Nurse. It hit her hard. When we meet, I'll bring a copy. We have many. She did all the artwork too. It's funny, as a kid she NEVER drew for us. I didn't know just how artistic she was until well into my 30s.
