Favorite childhood book.

Percy Jackson (2000s kid here)
Yes! I loved the Heros of Olympus as well!

One of my other favorite series that I read as a kid was The Underland Chronicles by Stephanie Myer. Gives off the same vibes as the Percy Jackson and Harry Potter books. Not well known books, but so good. Still love them as an adult!

I loved the following:

Fablehaven
Rangers Apprentice
Harry Potter
Cried by where the red fern grows
Roald Dahl books
Percy Jackson (2000s kid here)
Eragon
And the absolute best fantasy book ever written “The Name of the Wind” this is for adults and a must read
Just got the Audible version of The Name of the Wind.......

My wife and I have a couple of the illustrated Harry Potter books. They're the full books, but they have illustrations throughout all the pages, and they're super neat looking! 1736794263310.png

That’s very cool I wonder if that takes away from the imagination part of it. Who knows

For me, just flipping through them helps bring a more visual presentation to what is being told on the pages (I'm more of a visual guy so that might be why haha)

J.R.R. Tolkien

The Witches of Karres by James Schmitz

Here are some recommendations. I've been listening to books at the rate of 3 to 5 per month over the last 9 years. Of those there are a few standouts.

Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson. Something like 18 books. Among the best SciFi I've read.

The Gunslinger by Stephen King. His Magnum Opus. It's the original universe as he sees it. Seven books long or so

Superpowereds by Drew Hayes. If you want to use your powers to be a hero you need to go to college for it. Five kids are followed through 4 VERY long books. One for freshman year, one for sophomore year, etc. I'm NOT into superheroes, but this is my exception. Q q

The Bobiverse. Five books at present. Excellent series.

Commune. An end of the world book series by Joshua Gayou.

Mountain Man. A great Zombie book series.

And anything by Christopher Moore or Carl Hiaasen. Lots of weird humor. Great stories. I've read everything these two put out.

As adults we can look back at our early childhood. Each generation are represented here on R2R. What book do you have the fondest memory of? Mine is Where The Red Fern Grows. Went to school in the early 70's
I was actually an adult when I read it, but it IS a child's book. So mine is "A Wrinkle in time".

I think late elementary and early middle school I read both of these books twice because I liked them so much. A8AEF21C-F497-4419-A341-CD3109A306B0.jpeg 67CAA353-C56A-4D1C-88CC-06E1FD19008C.jpeg
My side of the mountain! Bingo! This is the book I was waiting to see if anyone one would bring up. Wonderful great book! There is an old movie available.

I wanted to be that kid! I didn’t know there was a movie.

This was when I was little, Make way For Ducklings. Since I liked to draw, illustrated books consumed me.

Richard Scarry books were also around the house.

Around ten I was introduced to the Hobbit/LOTR. In high school I had to do a book report and just happened to see Stephen King's "Pet Semetary". Cool...there's a scary cat on the cover! I read several of his books through college.

Hows the movie stand up to the book? I’ll definitely watch it!

I hadn't read the book since probably 75-76. Th movie was made in 1969. To my recollection of the book they did a fantastic job
