So I’ve had this Lobo for a while and I love it.

I love feeding it.

To the point where I literally feed it anything I see in the tank.

Veramtid snails, asterinas and even mushroom guts.

Is there a downside to feeding some of these not-typically-food food items?

I noticed it digests most of the asterina and spits out its hardened skeleton, so I assume it knows to spit out anything indigestible.

But am I treating it too much as a “garbage can”?

Excuse the fuzziness, I had just dosed DIY coral snow

Why? :face-with-tears-of-joy: :grinning-face-with-sweat: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Haha
Well vermatid snails I started because my bumblebee snails and wrasse actually eats them sometimes so made sense.

The asterina I found it munching on a Zoa so I just dumped it in.

The mushroom gut well… why not?

I’ve heard horror stories of frags falling in and being consumed, so why not? I guess that’s a lot of this hobby: why not? :face-with-tears-of-joy:

…I don’t feed it anything. I had it for several years. This coral killed many of my brain corals that got pushed into it from the high flow. Now I keep the lobo at the end, far away.

I dunno on the mushrooms and vermited snails. Mushies can be toxic is all. The snails, as long as it they are out of their shell should be fine, asterinas too, as long as they arent causing damage.

That’s a good point about potential toxicity.

I shall report tomorrow on if it looks all right. And probably refrain from feeding any more shroom guts.

that’s a nice piece.

How do you have it mounted? I had it on the sand bed for the longest time but I put it on a pvc pipe to elevate and I like the look better as it “droops” a bit and makes it look a bit more spherical. Not sure if that is better

Thanks!

Mine kept falling to the side, so I found a “clam hammock” (knockoff version. Flat piece of rock with the edges slightly raised) and glued the lobo to it to keep the base stable.

My tank is bare bottom.
