Its been 48 hours since the last po4 test and stopping the gfo. The good news is the po4 has stayed down it is now .30 ppm which is a great spot.. the gfo worked very well:)

Hi beautiful corals and fantastic that you are sharing your information for the common good, just a quick question if I may? I dont use a hanna checker, is your Po4 really 0.3 and not 0.03? Or do you find 0.3 is an ok range to have your Po4? Excuse me if I'm missing the obvious.
Keep up the good work regards justin.

Here is an update 24 hours later on the new 360 Gallon system. Yesterday I added more frags and built out a one of the branches.

The Tenuis frags are look great and super hairy.

the parameters as of today are:

alk 8.58
calc 399
mag 1386
po4 .33 on hanna h1714
no3 36-64 on the red sea pro kit
see pic of my triton below under the video

so far in the new system we have

SBB Crunch Berries
Bk CHem Froot Loops
SBB Captain Crunch
SBB Purplicious
SBB NO Name Future Release
BK Chem Crack Juice
SBB high Times
SBB Ice Cream

so 8 total

See video below of placement on each Blue light videos and pic coming soon :) I am still learning how to take picture with the radian g5 lights they seem a little different then the g4. It will be interesting in the next coming months to see how the g5 can color them up and to see how they crust and grow over time... hopefully adding more frags soon..

you are my roll model when it comes to tenuis. Absolutely amazing! quick question as i was reading throughout the thread, on your frag/growout system, im curious how much do you dose to maintain levels? or if youre using a reactor and i missed that lol keep up the great work!

this is a really good question. So i have been testing po4 via 2 hanna checkers and also the ICP triton. The 2 hanna checkers are the h1713 low range and the ultra-low range h1714 which reads po4 in PPM. The triton ICP reading is MG/L... anyway what i have found is po4 for tenuis is fine any range from .09-.39PPM my 540-gallon tank which holds all my corals currently ranges from .09-.39 PPM I must say though that i see the tenuis most happy at a range of .25-.35.

i just tested my po4 in the 540 and it is .09. This is too low for me so i am going to use Brightwell neophos to dose it up. I will dose today 125 ML to bring it to .15 and i will do this over the next few days to get back to the .25-.35 level i like. On a side note i send in a triton ICP usually every 30 days and my ICP triton test the reading always come in very low. for example when my hannas read .35 the triton ICP reads like .06.. so, I don’t think the ICP triton is the best test for po4 and the sample may be diluted of po4 during traveling and not read correct with the ICP test so i would not rely on ICP for po4 test. Hope this helps and thanks for your question!

Yes that's great thanks, I hate managing Po4, carbon dosing does little, Rowa is great but obviously needs replacing often, so parameters are always bouncing around, which is not good for sps. I struggle to keep levels below 0.1 it's good to see you having success with much higher levels, do you see any negative effects of higher Po4 levels than the norm?

Your experience with low Triton ICP values on PO4 are the norm. At least some of the PO4 either adheres to the tube or, more likely, is processed/consumed while in transit. I ran a little test where I took two samples, tested one at .07. The other I let sit in a pee test bottle for 5 days. It then tested at .037.

Here is a link to that thread in the Chemistry forum.

This is exactly that happens to me and hence I don’t even look at triton for phosphate . I just go by my Hanna . Last test , my Hanna read 0.45 whereas triton results were 0.05  .. that’s crazy low !!!

currently the 540 gallon system uses ESV Ionic 2 part for alk and calc. we are currently about 180ml of each per day running off a GHL doser

I don't see negative effect at .25-.35PPM but i do see negative effect if it is low below .06

Shane, bravo! I appreciate your willing to share. The more people that can keep Tenuis = more customers. In the end we ALL win!!

100% I want to see people succeed. I love watching people grow the tenuis out...
