HELP! I am struggling with my flow as detritus and waste keep setling on bottom. I tried lowering my wavemaker but noticed that the upper part of the tank doesn’t seem to get enough flow for SPS coral
Please help me to optimize the flow
THANKS

That's a great looking rock tree, it will look very nice once all grown in 🙂

It looks like you have at least three circulation pumps now as well as your return, but to me the obvious answer is to add another, lower pump or powerhead so that it's blowing in front of the tree.

The R2R Reef Squad team may have further suggestions - #reefsquad

Good luck with your build!

I'd try moving the two powerheads so their flow is hitting each other.

Maybe lower the two top ones and move the right side powerhead out to be almost directly across from the opposite side powerhead. That'll cause some extra turbulence. Also, if those are on controllers and they're linked, you can have them do a wave or pulse to help break the flow up and cause a little extra turbulence.

Is that a Tunze and two Nero 5’s? Please advice and I can help more. I need to know what pumps to help with placement and programming.

Do you think it would help if I placed one wave maker on the upper left side and the other on the right side, slightly facing toward but the right positioned lower to blow the front?

Would that improve detritus suspension while still keeping a good random/turbulent flow ?

Thanks, i really appreciate it!!

It looks like they can be put in a master slave, I would put them on opposing sides and set up the master slave. Then run them on random anti synced and see how that does. Those have a very wide flow if I remember. I wouldn’t put them diagonal like pictures above as they will just create a circular flow pattern and it won’t change.

Thanks, that is very helpful!!!!

Set the modes on all 3 to Else, turn the knob all the way to the right (slow), set the pump speeds to 100% using the button, set 1 pump as the master and the other 2 as slaves. What’s nice about using 1 as the master is when feeding you only have to press and hold 1 button to shut off all 3 for 10 minutes. That should get you as much flow as one would need.

You may want to make some intake screens for those, they WILL suck in fish running at 100%.

may i ask why it's set to else mode tks

Else is more or less Random Mode. It'll keep everything guessing and does better at making differing flows throughout the tank which helps keep everything suspended a little better which in turn allows for easier removal through mechanical means (filters, etc.)

Yep it’s completely random, and each pump is out of sync with the others. I use 2 of the bigger Jebaos on my frag tank and they do a good job of breaking up the flow instead of just steady speed.
