I bought a wills Black box grow light on Amazon and I’ve been using it to grow out a chaeto ball in spare cube I’ve got. The light is amazing for growing.

I want to move the light to my sump under my stand. It’s very humid and got me wondering if this is a fire risk?

does anyone with electrical knowledge know how much of a risk it would be having a non-humidity rated light in this situation?

It will definitely corrode the internal circuit board over time. You can handle that by putting a simple DC fan (like on your computer) hooked up in your stand to keep the air moving out of the stand.

I cannot say whether it is a fire risk or not, but the light probably won’t last very long. None of those Amazon/eBay ‘special’ are the last word in build quality. The growstar (what’s with all the goofy names?) I use over my sump for the ATS lasts about 18 months and then kaput.

At least the Kessil has some internal waterproofing on most of the internals, though you pay for it. Sadly the fan then fails.
