Hello everyone, I was just curious if this light would be enough for LPS and maybe some SPS corals IB my 14g nano tank (Fluval m40). I bought the tank as a kit so the light came with it. Just trying to get some input on if I should upgrade the light or not.

I would see if your LFS or a local person has a PAR meter you can borrow. That’s the best way to find out if a light is strong enough for a certain type of coral.

Hi, the stock light that comes with the M40 is certainly capable of growing a wide variety of common LPS corals. With regards SPS , it really depends on the species and placement in the tank. Some SPS corals actually require quite moderate lighting.

The only downside of the Fluval LED is that it offers no control over intensity and spectrum. However control over intensity can be achieved using a modulated LED driver.

Since it's recommended for aquaria up to 10 gallons, it will likely provide enough light. As suggested earlier, a PAR meter would provide critical details.
