Leopard Wrasse Tail Issues

Hi All,

Had me leopard wrasse for about 5 months, he is doing fine, and eating well.

2 days ago he started swimming with his head up, it looks like his tail is a bit paralyzed, he is still eating.

Does anyone know what this is, and what can be done?

Because the tail is clear, its hard to tail with blue lighting, best using white lighting with no blue to clearly see, but I see a split which may be due to aggression from another tank mate

If no more damage inflicted, will fully heal

If it started suddenly, then it is probably an injury. However, I don’t see any signs of skin or fin damage. There does seem to be some neurological damage though.

Wrasses don’t use their tail fins much in swimming (just steering) so they handle this sort of damage better than some other fish do.

I can’t say if it will heal or not, the only thing you can really do is to feed it well and keep it away from incompatible tankmates.
