Hey all,

My newest venture build is a 265 7ftx27wx27d and I'm trying to figure out how to best light this system. I want strong side to side and back wall coverage for frag rack growth.

I'd like to use what I've already got on hand but can sell current stuff and buy something else and plan to add a supplemental led bar.

Currently have available: 4 xr30 g4 pros, 1 xr15 g4 pro, 60" orphek uv, 60" 6 bulb ati T5

My current idea is to use 1 xr30 on each end of the tank each only responsible for 12" of light, and the 6 bulb t5 in the middle with a 60" LED (xho, orphek, etc) on each side. The 6 bulb will not provide adequate coverage for 27" wide.

The other more bold idea is to have the other two radions running parallel with the T5 fixture on one side. The t5 is 14" wide and radions about 8" wide so it would fit but only one full side of the t5 would have led (and if so, front or back?)

Better option would be a t5 hybrid with the radions in the middle but I'd like to use what I've got if possible. Anyone know of an 84" fixture

Any ideas are appreciated! I'm worried there will be some insane hotspots in the radion/t5 cross over on the ends but can manage with reducing the led intensity or add a diffuser and maybe even a shade on the t5 side to block light.

I don't have experience growing SPS (yet), but I'm transitioning from a Reefer 350 to S-1000. The S-1000 has very similar dimensions to your tank. Plan to set up SPS Dominant.

I plant to light with 3x Philips Coralcare Gen 2 LEDs. I've already been working on the lighting fixture... barebones suspended from ceiling. Also... These things are so dang bright... Other than the brief BRS review, which was heavily biased by their preference of spectrum, I've only heard good things... plus they are dead silent, as they are passively cooled. And when compared to other LED alternatives, they are extremely affordable and often on sale on BRS. Small downside is that they are ~15lbs each.

P.S. Love the scape.

@TL1 Thanks for the input. I did see those lights and have considered those or the ATI stratons. I'll have to look little more heavily into them. Luckily since it will be progressive I can use these for now and change up if I'm not happy with it.

Also, congrats on the RS 1000! Hopefully is an awesome build.

The scape was quite a process but I'm happy with how it came out. I'll be starting a new thread with some details on that but here's a teaser.

Your proposed “ati in the middle with Orphek bars and radions on the ends” would work wonderfully. I’d have no hesitation doing that
