No plans on getting rid of the stars unless they start eating my corals. If they do I'll borrow a harlequin shrimp for a bit.

Yeah - it wouldn't be cheap but I'm already planning it. Setting a couple of 100 gallon NSF storage tanks for RO/DI and mixing salt water and deciding on the sump design. All in all I am going to build it to make maintenance as easy as possible from the outset.

Borrowing is good. As long as the shrimp isn't in danger, then that's great.

Minimum maintenance has always been my tactic as well. I feel like a hypoocrite telling you the tank will be expensive when I'm trying to set up a 1000g for as little as possible >.<

No hypocrite - just doing your best to give the best advice you can and I appreciate it.

I'll have to look and see if you have a build thread on the 1000G - I'd love to hear about what issues you run into and how you overcome them. My goal is eventually to have a large tank in-wall [with the fish room on the other side] when I build my 'forever' house.

The goals are - big and beautiful.

Exactly! That's my goal too.

I don't have an official build thread. I'm still just in the logistics phase. It's not happening within a month or two I can tell you that :/
