I do not like those respiration programs. The spectrum is constantly changing. AI support recommends utilizing the weather feature if you want respiration.

Good spectrum.
Question thu, why you say spectrum is always changing? Only intensity of blue and royal blue changing a bit up and down...not the spectrum itself..no?

Remember coral need time to tract. Meaning if you want to try diffrent flow and locations you need to give coral at least a week to see how it reacts. It will not happen over night..

I put my gyre to 30% for 6s then 10% for 6. Dont know what mode it is.. lol.. although my sps are growing and coloring up with my current setting just want to have that polyp extension im chasing now.

Is it possible this is too low of a flow?

Because all the channels are not decreasing/increasing proportionally. I prefer a simple consistent program. Metal halides and older t5’s do not provide respiration.

Ahaa..good point. I want to try A+B one day.
My system so far responded really well to the david saxby over the last 6 months. But time to spice it up and try new profile ha ha.
Is your profile A+B?
How do you like it? What coral do you host?

Oh totally forgot something
Test your k+. In low po4 environment k+ have big impact on coral color and polyp extention.

Test K+..

But then again i remember my 20g before with one ai prime non hd and rw4 and ac50 as my flow i still didnt get polyp extension. Thats the time ihave phosphate over .10 - .15. Then i transfer everithing to my 40g now i started with 2 ai primes non hd and rw4. I had problems with coloration and growth. So i swap it out with 3 ai primes hd and gyre 1k. Then everything colored back up and growing.

Worth to test.
I do not like all in one solutions and depend on testing important paramaters.
My foundation testing is
Salinity, alk, ca, mag and k+
Salifert potassium test kit is great and easiest to use. Otherwise an icp would tell.

I think it's worth investing in an icp test for baseline anyway.

But yeh test k+ low k+ will reduce PE and inhibit growth in low po4...
I still think you need to bring your po4 a bit, but if you can do it naturally. Do not dose po4 and all these strang no3 po4 additives trends

+1 on the salifert k test. The Red Sea test is a pita and is nowhere near accurate. The salifert is in line with all my icp test.

Absolute beauties...great job on the coloration..
Tenuis is like my kryptonite..they do not color the way I see in pictures..sm so jealous.
What a delightful pictures thank you for sharing.
I use very little white, very high blues and higher than recommended v,uv,r, and g. I also try to keep my po4 0.15-0.30 and no3 15-25.

The red sea abcd have individual k supplement. I keep feeding and feeding roids and chili spot feed when i have time but most of the tome broadcast feeding with phyto and reef fuel at night.

What I meant to say is dosing without testing...at least for foundation elements I like to test before dosing...

For acropora, PE is mainly for gas exchange. If you don't have any nipping fish or inverts, then the polyps are retracted because they are getting enough gas exchange. If you turn all of the flow pumps off, then the polyps come out more to exchange more gas since the water around the coral is getting stagnant. More PE at night when the photosynthesis is not exchanging gasses.

Some SPS can have polyps out to try and eat, but this appears more pronounced in Stylos and Poci than others.

You can do more damage chasing PE than by just forgetting about it. Go by growth and color as your guide to coral health.
