I love damsels but don’t have any currently. When we had the 500 I had three dominoes which eventually turned into one. The one grew HUGE and was a milk chocolate brown all over. He terrorized the entire 500 gallons. The only way I could catch him was a fish hook and a piece of shrimp. He went back to the LFS!

So I'm told.
Sorry, that wasn't very helpful. In general, anything with glyphododon in it will get big, ugly, and mean.

Can I post links to another forum here? There is a damsel write-up that would be good for this thread.

Yeah, we want reefers to have as much good info available as possible, regardless of where it's from.

All I did was put in a request with LA and they had him in a week.:)
Not sure if they have since stopped collecting them but its worth a try if you want one.
This fish has a rather unique distribution in the wild, being found from the Philippines upwards to Japan, like the fish above, there is also another variant from Australia to Tonga. On the world map, it’s range runs anti-equatorially and the link between Philippines and Australia is broken by Indonesia, where the fish is absent.:)

I’ve seen one at a lfs that was 6inches. I’m guessing it was a similar situation

Seasonal. Also on the expensive side once they do come in. I am waiting for a trio [emoji4] I've got plenty of time!

I don’t care about the price I just want them lol. When do they typically come in season wise?

If I recal correctly they are like a $60 Damsel which is nothing compared to the prices of tangs [emoji28]

and finally, for me, a very special damsel- this was the best picture of it I had. Sadly I lost them when my tank crashed a few years ago and haven't be able to source them since

Lepidozygous? Fusilier damsel? This one makes him look better than some other photos I've seen!

I also had a beaugregory damsel. Beautiful fish and model citizen until he got to be about 1 1/2" then it all went south! He terrorized everything in the tank and even made 2 gobies jump out of the tank! I had to end up taking out all my rock to catch it because it refused to go into any trap I tried! Never again...

sorry for the double post, but Angus is the sweetest fish my son has!

Fast forward 5 yrs. and this is what Angus will look like. And he will be far from sweet. Lol. My damsel is the tank boss and he runs a tight ship. He was no bigger than a dime when I got him. He's a pet, however, so I tolerate his nastiness.

@Kattkrazie Angus is my son's favorite. A lfs was kind enough to tell him he'd be perfect...I know you are right. Unfortunately.
