Thanks for the reply, from the mp40 it’s pushing more water into the overflow and it’s throwing the skimmer off, but the water level in my sump it’s still the level , the level is not going up and down it’s set on 9 inches

if sump level is constant then dont worry. All new equipment have a small amount of production chemical residues on them from the manufacturing process. this can be pvc pipes, stream pumps, skimmers, reactors, chillers, filter socks and on and on. Most all will have some "hands in the water" effect on skimmers and kill or reduce the foam production for a while. Filter socks usually being the exception, making some skimmers go a bit nuts.

If the skimmer was producing at the current level before the pump addition then just leave it alone (no adjustments) and let it settle back in.

I have a skimmer question....
I run chaeto and a tunze skimmer on my 80g. The skimmer takes 3 days to fill the cup, and it's running wet, and my chaeto is not growing at all. Would it be ok to run the skimmer without the cup for awhile?
I only have lps and softies and zero algae.
it would be fine but salt spray from the bursting bubbles off the skimmer may create a little mess. you'll also get more evaporation so make sure your top off is monitored. can you set the skimmer to push dryer skimmate?

I would like info on skimmers and size of tank they are rated for. I have always heard that bigger in not better when it comes to skimmers. Having said that some of the skimmers say rated "up to" x number of gallons. For example, if a skimmer is rated for up to 150 gallons heavy and 200 gals light, can I use this skimmer on 70 to 100 gallon tank? What happens if the skimmer is too big for the tank?

Is anyone using the trigger cube as their sump. If so, do you have any pros or cons on it?
