Something is eating my chalices

Well guys ive heard of a bunch of different fish pecking at coral but recently i introduced 2 new wrasse a scotts fairy and a blue side fairy wrasse and for whatever reason ive started to notice some of my chalices with bit marks and skeleton showing only on the rims of the chalice, i havent seen them in action doing it but i never had this problem before with the other fish i have in the tank so im guessing they are the ones do it please tell me if you have heard of wrasses picking on chalice?

never heard of fish picking on chalices but anything is possible for sure..... there was recently a thread about some hermits eating a flamethrower... maybe something to think about if you have claws in the tank???? i take that back i have seen my copperband pick at the polyps of my chalices when there hungry and feeders are out....

i actually saw that thread and i told myself thank the lord i dont have any hermits so i know thats not the problem im just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem with wrasse before i know they are scavenger eaters but i would never think that they would peck at my chalices hopefully someone has some sort of input on what they have done in this situation, i also have a blue and purple tang,pair of grade A snowflakes and a midas blenny but ive had them all for over a year now and ive never seen any marks on any corals or seen any bite marks on my chalices before.

Maybe a gorilla crab or something do you dip any incoming corals??? Have you added anything recently that might have brought a bad hitch hiker??? Even some pics might help maybe there not bite marks...

ill get some pics later but i do dip all my corals ,man this sucks, its great to see everything growing but it kills to see ur pieces get messed up by whatever it is

One day they look fine and the next day they are showing skeleton on the rim right? Must be a crab in there somewhere. It has happened to us before. Drove us nuts!

never heard of a wrasse picking on a chalice. maybe coral warfare between different species? If it is a crab you could nuke the tank. My crabs died when i treated mine for redbugs

OR STupid killer PODS!! i had them!! had to nuke them 4 times before i had it under control.. i was stumped for weeks until i took at flashlight and check out the tank about 4 am.. saw those little devils chewing away at my lovely chalices!! I WAS WAR THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS!!

pods will eat coral when they get outa control i had some eat a lg frag of orange crush acan.the frag was totaly healed when it went into the tank and the pods were caught in the act.your wrasses should help to thin them out.

how could i nuke the tank to get rid of the crab if it is a crab or pods? should i dose some interceptor?

well guys i woke up last night at about 4 am and found about 20 to 30 pods on each chalice that has bite marks i had never had this happen to me before but as u all can guess what i going to do today "NUKE" LOL this is crazy bro ive never seen or heard of pods ever doing this.

I had a 30g frag tank filled with nice z & p and no fish or crabs. It was plumbed into another system so I thought no problems here.....about a month later all my polyps were showing signs of stress. I come in with a flashlight at 3am one night and I caught 'em! Super-pods were engulfing my polyps. Added a sixline and a week later everything was fine :)

with you just adding the 2 wrasses you might give it a little time they will thin them out

i was thinking about waiting it out but i need to get my chalices back to normal before i end up losing the pieces.

Try leaving a moonlight on before and after the main lights so there is a transitional time where the pods will come out when the wrasses are active. My seahorse cleared my tank of marauding Acan eating amphipods. It's really just an out of control population explosion. Once their numbers are reduced, they're not a problem.

pods are nocturnal, wrasses aren't. NUKE them suckas and add a pipefish. They hunt at night too
