Another update for another entry.

OMG I have aiptasia in the sump. I'll probably toss a peppermint or two in. I like having a few on hand to move into other tank as needed and there's plenty of detritus for them to feed on when the aips are gone.

I decided to remove the rock with the recordia on it as they were already started to smother the paly grandis and spreading to the other rock. My Gal reminded me of the tank we got them from. They were the only thing in the tank and they covered everything including the walls. I like em but not that much.

I moved them and the palys down but not sure if I'll leave them or toss them in the basement tank. Both of them are almost impossible to kill unless left out of water or pour acid on them. They just hibernate when placed in a cold dark brute.

Now I have an open area. Fish like the swim through. I'm thinking about trying to find some red and blue shrooms to add to the orange ones. Wish me luck I'm, I'm not paying $40 a pieces like I've seen the colored one sell for at the lfs.

Speaking of coral hibernating. I pulled this rock out of the brute and tossed it in the 10g in the basement. It's covered in green palys that have been dormant for months with no light or heat. I forgot my PPE. Don't try this at home kids it really can be dangerous

I'm seriously thinking about setting my 40g breeder back up in the basement and filling it with misfit coral and I'll use it for my observation QT and emergency tank if I need to seperate a fish. People tell me my stand is not safe tho.

It's all solid 1x3" wood :zany-face:

Look a bit more like rhodactis than rics, right? Some are quite invasive.

Not all Rhodactis are invasive. Mine has only split once in the 3 years I've had it. Some split almost daily it seems like though!

These never die and I find them everywhere on old rocks from the 180g teardown so definatly invasive. I got them not too long after I started the hobby and was thrilled to keep something alive lol. I think I'll banish them to the dark cold brute again and deal with them when I need rock and keep the paly grandis. They're cool to watch eat.

Actually I'm going to try and make it. Bringing some for you will give me motivation to go lol. I'll set aside a chunk of rock with a few on it for you no charge.
Any interest in trying a piece of Miyagi tort? Been a good grower for me and I have frags taking over my rack. Free as well.

EDIT : Have garf bonzai encrusting on the rack also?
Maybe a piece of neon green anacropora? I've spent the last year or longer trying to get it to encrust on a plug only to recently find out it doesn't do that :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I would be honored to accept anything you are willing to part with. I am hoping to have a couple goodies to trade out by that time.

These guys look a bit different under different conditions. I may try blasting a few with light and see how they respond. I've seen them with green and a bit of yellow. These are in the 170. Find something your good at and stick with it right? :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I've been getting tired of battling with the gha in the 170 for the last two years.
It looks decent when I clean it.

Then a couple of weeks later it's all nasty again. I suppose I should be vacuuming daily but I just don't feel like it.
I decided to set my 29g up in the basement and move into that with different rock. I wanted to set up my 40g breeder but decided the stand really is pretty sketchy so why push my luck. It's also a good place to store stuff.

So last night the the pups and I go down and get to work.

And we ended up with this.

It's all live rock from storage so insta cycle. I figure the blue nem should look pretty awesome front and center if it agrees to stay there. Coral can go on the other end and racks if needed.

As to why I think it's funny how things work out. I did all of this last night because I wasn't happy with the reefer 170 and wanted a change. I'm not a nervous nanny and despite having 2 red sea tanks I don't do seam inspections. I just can't waste energy wondering what if. Anyway tonight I decide I should do one. Low and behold the right front upper seam is starting to separate.



I just found the timing of everything interesting.

EDIT No knocks on redsea. It's a gen 1 that I've had for years that I've drug back and forth accross our bedroom without emptying several times.

Let the Niger out of the box today.

He didn't even go hide. Just started looking for a place to call home. The only fish that even took notice was the damsels. I have 3 talbots and 2 blues, a yellow tail and a yellow belly and they all have their own territory.

Aww, a baby Jello!

I had one for about 6 years and he was awesome. He got big enough to see his red teeth so my Gal Lisa started calling him Dracula lol. Was a beautiful fish with personality but he started taking bites out of my fleshy lps so I rehomed him. I'm no longer keeping those type of coral with no plans to so I figured I would add one again.
