You can’t compare the two, one is potentially keeping someone alive and well anything in this hobby you buy is not life or death.

I don't know. I see your point however I find value in comparing what people think "shouldn't be" compared, in order to get perspective. After all, not all medications are "life saving."

It’s not price gouging if it isn’t essential. This is just supply and demand. If someone is able to resell it and make major $$$$, good for them.

Almost everyone who was serious about getting it (checking the big 3 sites) has one by now.

i was on a waiting list since day 1 at my lfs...got a call this weekend but i no longer need one so i found someone in my local club and sold it to them for cost.....its the holidays!!!just felt it was the right thing to do

Although your intentions were noble, there was someone right after you on the waiting list who now has to wait until the next trident is available. Technically it was your trident so you can do what you want but I would have left it for the next guy. I mean, he signed up on a list your club member didn’t so it should have been his turn if you didn’t need it.

There is an old saying that comes to mind here. Life isn't fair. If we are having this much debate about a silly piece of equipment - its no doubt as to what the problems in society are. I mean come on right - the person in his club that got a unit - meant that one more person could get a trident besides him. Again - its not like this is a life-saving treatment. So I think the term noble intentions - or not - is a bit strong.

This is supply and demand - its no ones fault - people that worked their tail off - got units early - (people that read this site - for example - a the minute the new list was announced by BRS) - etc etc. Everyone has the same opportinity to get an trident - if people think its 'bots' doing it - then get access to bots (I dont) - if it means checking websites 20 times/day - do that. etc etc. Everyone has had the same opportunity to get an trident. Equal opportunity to me does not guarantee equal results - because - especially in this instance - people have not used their opportunity equally - thus some people still dont have a unit:)

So...I seem to recall that Neptune said that they would not support aftermarket or third party sells. Not sure if that is still the case or how they would know, but that is what was posted a while back. Having said that Tridents are in stock and a few just this past week at both BRS and Marine Depot. Best thing to do is post in the Trident in stock thread - forget the exact name - but people post in there all the time when they find them and/or the 6 month reagent supply. You will get one shortly once people know you are on the lookout.

More importantly keep this in mind that this not just a Neptune / Trident issue. GHL is asking people to put a 50% deposit and other products for which I won't mention a name required 100% paid in full. I think Neptune is doing the right thing honestly and they have been up front and honest from the get go why it takes longer per say compared to just ordering the manufacture to crank up another 1,000 return pumps. Not the same.

Lastly I'll leave you with this little gem. I've been shopping around for a Ford GT500. I can spec out the build at a little over 105. However, local dealers to include cross state line are adding 45K ADM to the price of the car. Found one in California and the dealer was asking 169K for the car and it didn't even include any of the track packages...

Doesn't matter what hobby we are in folks. Business will mark up in the initial round and others will find a way to buy early or skirt rules and mark up/ ebay and it will last a year or two. People will pay. People have more money be it smarter, wiser, working harder, born into it, or just blind luck. It is what it is and always will be. But having said that - let us know you are looking and people here will be on the look out. That is honestly how a few of us got ours.

Edit: Maybe consider changing the title if you can. Leads one to believe Neptune / Trident is the cause of the problem and that isn't the case. At least how I read it.

If you search around, you should be able to get last years gt350r for around 70k. Bring it to Hennessey Performance. You should be able to get the 1,000 package for less than 30k ;). 1,000 is a lot more fun than 500 LOL

IMO...this issue is not free market issue, it’s an intentionally manipulated market market....no different than ticket scalping, computerized bots buying up masses of a limited quantity item to create a false demand.

I think the issue is people are buying out all the stock at normal price and then selling twice the price leaving people who want it to use it and not just stock pile it to pay outrageous prices
Imagine some one getting a bunch of big tankers and buying all the gas in your state then selling it back for twice the cost

I am sad to say it but what this means is they way under priced the Trident. The market was ready to pay more. That money could have went to new and improved product development or better warranties but is going to gougers instead.
