hello, my first post. I am a new reefer. I have a 55 gal tank with 25 gal sump, GFO, carbon, and bio-pellet reactors, UV Sterilizer, Tunze ATO and a artica chiller. My basic parameters are all perfect at zero. I learned the hard way about quarantine procedures having got ich in the tank and lost fish. Now I have a hospital tank and a quarantine tank which any new arrival will go through. Currently I am letting the tank sit fallow for 8 weeks to rid it of Ich and my fish are in quarantine. My question is, I just noticed this worm, and not sure if he is ok to have or if I ha e another issue to contend with... I have read some worms are ok, and some are a problem. Any idea what this is and if I need to take action? (Hopefully the pics attached correctly)
It is a bristle worm. Some people consider them a beneficial part of the clean up crew. I personally do not mind them. Other people try to keep them out of their tanks because they can be annoying when you work in the tank and get a finger full of bristles (a soak in vinegar helps dislove the bristles if that ever happens).
