Been going through the same thing. I did a large water change of about 60% and two weeks later things are improving

I too thought it was a high alk, low nutrients problem, but my alk has been fine for weeks, and I have been slowly increasing my nutrients with no success. Things have only gotten worse.

Hard to find the cause of your trouble, but I would also look at the salinity first.
I use the same ATI ICP tests and my salinity on their results is always lower than what I measure with the digital milwaukee.
I never had it higher.

Hoping you find a solution.

Hoping you find a solution.

So after multiple tests and chasing down the cause of what has been going on, I discovered that it was my Hanna Instruments Salinity tester that was causing me to misread my tanks salinity. It actually was high, and has since been rectified. After the ICP testing I decided to lower my salinity as I had no other leads, and everything has since stabilized and come back to "normal". I took serious losses and am pretty upset about it.

Essentially the tester has some extra calibration steps that need to be done that are not listed anywhere in the instructions or by Hanna in order to be accurate. BRS at this point has told people to only use it on freshly mixed salt water because of these innacuracies. This has made me pretty upset because when I first got the tester, I was on the phone with Hanna telling them that it was wrong, and I stupidly listened to them when they told me that it was correct, and my methods were wrong, causing me to change my tank when nothing was wrong.

Looking for a new digital solution at this point, and am looking at the pinpoint and milwalkee. I wish the Apex Salinity probe was better, so I might hold out for a new version.

Now that my tank has recovered(mostly), heres a few photos of what it looks like. I lost a lot of Acros, including 2 colonies in the mini crash. Still pretty bummed about it, but no where to go than forward.

This Acro I had since it was maybe 3/4". It was pretty resiliant and is still growing strong.

Recovery looks underway and the tank is looking pretty good. BTW, I use the Pinpoint Salinity Monitor and I really like it. I had a Salinity spike also recently, but it had nothing to do with the device, it was on me (not bothering to test this simple parameter). Lost almost all the CUC much of which died deep within the rock causing some issues.

Growth is back to being strong again. I will get some pics later today/tomorrow to provide some updates now that my tank is presentable again.

Made some small hardware changes, mainly replacing my DIY net with one from clearview, as well as getting an automatic neck cleaner, and skimmate locker for my skimmer. Im trying to reduce the amount of regular maintenance as much as I can, because I travel a fair bit.

Unfortunately, something ate my clam pretty rapidly, it was pretty sad to watch. I saw several 20+ very large amphipods inside the clam during its decline, and thought that they were just eating the dying flesh, but it turns out theres a pretty big track record of some of them eating clams, which is pretty frustrating to say the least. Water parameters have been good for a while, and it appeared to be perfectly fine and then the next morning it was almost half gone and being eaten by the amphipods. I will try and catch a pic of one of these guys.

This is the first time I hear about amphipods eating clams.
Sorry to hear this.

Here’s some quick pics on my new iPhone 11 pro. This thing works pretty well without any filters.

After a few months of letting my tank chill and not adding anything new, I picked up a few new frags over the weekend.

Beautiful Wanatabei!

Thanks! I was super worried she would get beat up because my fish are on the aggressive side, but upon releasing her from her acclimation box, she actually went after all the other fish and they have left her alone since! Definitely one of my favorite fish.
