Got a stellar hybrid fixture with 2 viparspectra. Wondering if anyone's got any easy ideas as to how I can lift the light up and out of the way for cleaning/maintenance?

now THAT's clean! Not sure of your set up but I have lights on a mount made from 80/20. It is attached to my stand made from 80/20 but could should be able to be modified to attach to a wood stand or even the wall behind the tank.
Credit for the design goes to @Reefer Reboot who unfortunately doesn't hangout here any longer.
It could probably be modified to hold any light I would think. Its pretty sweet when working in the tank.

I am but its a pig of a light and the t5 likes to be low. Covers my entire tank so moving frags or getting a pipette in to feed corals is a painAre you not hanging it?
Wow! Are those all pre-made peices? This might be the route I go!Not sure of your set up but I have lights on a mount made from 80/20. It is attached to my stand made from 80/20 but could should be able to be modified to attach to a wood stand or even the wall behind the tank.

Not exactly pre made. Reefer reboot designed it all for my tank then gave me a parts list and I ordered everything from 8020.net and assembled it. The hinges and some stuff would be the same but all the dimensional pieces would be specific to your tank and lights. I could not have done it if he hadn't designed it for me.Wow! I think I could design it, I have an idea for something similar. All the parts were standard extrusion components is more or less what I meant. No weird parts that were repurposed for this projectNot exactly pre made. Reefer reboot designed it all for my tank then gave me a parts list and I ordered everything from 8020.net and assembled it. Not sure if there are other members that could assist with design?
My word that's a lot of options.... maybe I would need some helpNot exactly pre made. Not at all. Image of the design and parts list below. PNs are from 8020 because it was their software used for the design.I think I could design it, I have an idea for something similar. I would like to lower it but any lower and I cant use my pipette unless I cut it. If I found an easy way to lift straight up I would probably build a bracket to raise the leds about 4-6" above the fixture as well. Essentially keep those the height they are at now and lower the t5. The stellar fixture has the same footprint as my tankwhat's your lid situation? you could mount it inside your hood if you have one, and put a hinge on the hood. alternatively, mount to the wall and add hinges on the horzontal support so you can fold it up and out of the way.
Personally, I have my kessil mounted about 15 inches above the water line and have no issues getting in for maintenance

Did you buy these or make them?? I wonder if I could combine your setup with @exnisstech's setup and use the extruded aluminum mounted vertically to the wall, to mount your setup but spread the weight, AND make it so the swivel brackets can slide up and down and lock in at the desired height! My t5+2 viparspectra lights were very heavy trying to hang them over my tank haha![]()

Lift light assembly. Pull pin, reinstall pin. Easy peasy![]()
I fabricated it all. Didn’t like anything out there so one day just decided to make my own. My lights are probably similar in weight. 316 stainless steel is super strongDid you buy these or make them?? Tig weld? Super clean looking. Wish I had the shop to make something that clean. I got a little mig welder with gas, and basic metal tools, not tog or cnc, won't be as pretty but could work potentially!I fabricated it all. Yep tig welded. Have plasma table at work but didn’t cut perfect enough. Had a local shop laser cut to .001 tolerance. I DIY everything I can in this grossly over priced hobby.Tig weld? Ditto, I'd have twice as much in my system if I didnt... probably wouldn't be married anymore eitherYep tig welded. Have plasma table at work but didn’t cut perfect enough. Had a local shop laser cut to .001 tolerance. I DIY everything I can in this grossly over priced hobby.
