Hey yall
I have a 40b with a pair of clowns(false percula), springers damsel, RG, and dwarf angel. For inverts i have a sand sifting star, two crabs, and a CBS. Everyone is extremely peaceful and spread out. There is no bullying or chasing. Tank is a little over a year old, and I have UV, oversized skimmer and hob filter.

I do want one maybe two more fish. I am looking into :
a sand sifter (diamond goby, blue spotted goby, or banded sleeper goby,
and a chalk bass.
Do yall think I can do this? Will the banded sleeper overcrowed the water column since it doesnt "lay" on the sand like the others? Will the Chalk and RG bud heads?

I wouldn't get a sand sifter in that small of tank unless you're absolutely sure it takes pellet or frozen. Even in bigger tanks it's a challenge.

If you wanted goby you could go with watchman goby/shrimp pair. YWG is pretty big plus the shrimp might max you out before getting chalk bass. If not goby there are some nice blennies - partial to tail spot myself and algae blennies can help with algae maintenance.

Agree with the above, especially since you already have 2 sand sifting stars. I like the idea of a YWG pistol pair and a tailspot to round out your stocking.

Thanks for your replies. The star "sifts" but doesnt do a great job at all as the sand gets brown and I thought a sifting goby would help more.
Would a pistol shrimp and CBS be fine living together or would they get fiesty?

I had a cleaner and a tiger pistol shrimp do just fine. Seems like a similar pairing. The tiger pretty much stays to the burrow area. Also helps with your sand looking nice...moves a lot of it. I moved it back every week or so (didn't fill in burrow of course).

my chalk bass and RG used to be best buddies when I still had my chalk. I had my chalk over a year, excellent fish IMO, but it jumped 5-6 times in that year and I always saved it, but one day it jumped when I wasn't around.
