I'm pretty sure you know the following but just in case. What you do not understand is because K (Kelvin) is temperature vs nm (nanomaters) are wavelengths. A certain Kelvin temperature consists of a nearly infinite number of wavelengths to produce the perceived color. Nanometers, on the other hand, measure a specific wavelength. So even if the Kelvin temperature appears amber, it's actually a combination of wavelengths at different nanometers. In other words, while a 14K or 20K diode will contain some of the wavelength measured at 420nm, it will also contain many other wavelengths. A 420nm diode should only put out light measured to 420nm.

I hope this makes some sense.
I would still do three boxes on a 60" long tank.

I changed all of mine this time.

3w LED's. You can get them from eBay. Takes a little digging, but can be found.

Thank you so much for spoon feeding me that information that is exactly what I needed to know!

I have the exact same tank and I am in the process of building my DIY stand which I just finished the framing for the base tonight but I cannot decide on a canopy design. I love the fact that yours uses smaller framing boards to cut the weight in half because that is one of my biggest concerns. What are the dimensions of your canopy?

Let me measure that tomorrow for you. I don't remember off the top of my head.
What diameter did you use?
They sell 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 diamond x 3 ft here.

I believe it's 1/4".

Okay it's been awhile since I update my build.

Hurt my back cleaning out the tear out of the old flooring in the house. Been home since Monday letting it heal. So been on bed rest.

I did manage to do my weekly water change and clean the glass.

Tonight's view:

Feel better! Glad to hear that the tank is pretty much autopilot, though. Looking great as always still :D

Thanks, stay safe out there!

Been awhile since posting. Been busy with work (that's stressful in itself! More on that in a second)

I've had my recirculation pump for my water change station acting up on start up lately. It's a old Danner mag 3. It wouldn't start when plugged in. It would take several tries to finally start each time I went to make water. It's on its last leg. Cleaned numerous times, just worn.

Well with the way things are right now and I really don't want to go out unless absolutely necessary, I had a new Panworld 100px still in a box. With a little rework of my recirculation manifold, it's now used temporary for this.

It's way overkill for this, but man it mixes salt in a flash! Lol

Now on to work. As some of you know I work in the medical industry. I have now for thirty years as a journeyman surgical instrument maker and as of the past 12+ as a surgical instrument repair tech.

The company I work for resides in Saint Louis county. They locked down the county a day ago, but we are considered essential and we will stay open. We have a very large warehouse that stores instruments from Germany, that has 60+ warehouse workers (the size of two football fields) and our repair shop that has 30+ repair techs. All office and customer service workers are ordered to work from home.

We get repair orders from all over the United States. Big hospital systems and small systems.

With all that's going on now, it's a little unnerving with them coming in. We have protocols to clean and disinfect them, our facility and keep ourselves safe. Especially now. Just very spooky coming in to work and the place is a ghost town.

With my health conditions and age, my wife hates that I'm going to work and being out in public, if only to and from work. It's not like I can work from home like some people can.

It is what it is.
