Hi folks!

i’m hoping to set up a Herbie overflow in my 50 gal tank by drilling holes in the back glass pane. My hope was to avoid paying the 200ish dollars for a hang off the back by plumbing it directly into the tank but I am having trouble finding a diy weir box method. I’ve found some materials to build it with but it seems like it would end up costing just as much as buying one.

any suggestions?

also, while I have your attention, I’ve been reading the gmareefs page to research the overflow system but I can’t seem to find a recommended pipe size for the roughly 500gph turnover I’d need for my tank. A little help here would be appreciated as well

cheers!
