I am getting a new tank (72"x18"x22") on Saturday for a frag/growout system and am going to use LR from my reef in the new sump, but I want to give it a good, not sure if cleaning is the right word, but anyway, what's the best way to give the LR a good short term "cleaning."

If you are talking getting rid of the detritus in the cracks and such, you can take it to the car wash and use the nozzles there. Just make sure you run a cycle through it before you start spraying rocks to get any soap out of the wand.

If you want to keep it alive, use a high power powerhead in a bucket and blast the heck out of it. That way it stays in saltwater and shouls have no dieoff...

If you don;t mind some die off the carwas idea sounds good. If you want a really deep clean, go with an acid wash.
