Hello all,

For a long time I've done high tech planted aquariums so I finally decided to branch into saltwater, and what better way to start than a pico.....lol, yeah right. Anyway, I've come here looking for answers to any questions I might have and maybe one day to be able to provide answers.

Is that an Evo 5g? Looks like mine. I always had larger tanks, 75-180g range but after a long hiatus, started a mini reef a few months ago. Technology had changed a lot but basic reefing has remained the same. The biggest curve for me has been daily top off for evaporation. The larger tanks just took a gallon of RO every few days but I never really noticed the water level change. The 5g is very noticeable, even daily, and the effect to the salinity is drastic. I have watched it climb from 1.024 up to 1.028 after only 3-4 days away.

Yeah it is the Evo 5g and I am running into a salinity issue. In the tank it was 1.04 so I changed out 1/3 of it with what I had left from The Fish Gallery here in Houston and the water that was left is also at 1.04 so I'm not sure if they have their water set to that or if the water just went "bad" lol. I'm going to bring some distilled into work tomorrow and try to lower the salinity, unless I can get RO water from the store.
