Would like to know which one recommend doing.

I am doing 14-16 days in copper power at 2.5 ppm and then either deciding to do two courses of either API general cure or Prazi pro which one would be better? Prazi pro or general cure? 20 gallon qt tank with pre made saltwater and will have a hob filter along with two sponge filters and a heater. All in all 4 water changes will be done once a week need to know how to lower copper levels then proceed with Prazi or general cure. Assuming cupri sorb will help remove the copper.

I'd suggest the Reef2Reef approved QT protocol found in the link bellow. The reason being is that if you need help, the author(s) are here on R2R to help you 🙂 This protocol calls for a full 30 days of Copper Power, followed by a few rounds of PraziPro:

Good luck!

Looks good agree with everything except for length of copper treatment 30 days could do more harm than good a even ground in the middle around 21 days would be best.

If you follow what the R2R Fish Medic crew suggests, the 30 days of Copper Power should not be shortened 🙂

^Just a few examples 🙃

I am aware that there are other methods, I'm just giving you the R2R approved QT protocol as laid out by the R2R Fish Medic team, who all recommend a full 30 days of Copper Power. You are welcome to explore other options 🙂

@Jay Hemdal BRSTV Bulk Reef supply suggest 14 days in copper at minimum of 2.0 ppm therapeutic level so am curious why you recommend 30 days in copper as it could do more harm then good being in copper for so long.

Imo, 14 days in copper only makes sense if you can transfer the fish into a completely sterile tank afterward and continue observation for at least another 2 weeks.

If you're quarantining in the same tank, a full 30 days is absolutely needed since copper has to be lowered below 1ppm before running GC or Prazi. Dropping copper early leaves a window where any remaining encysted parasites can reinfect the fish.

Ok will do the 14 days and Tank transfer then and do 2 weeks of Prazi course. Will have to get seperate equipment and rinse everything in freshwater once done

Amine-chelated copper products are very safe, but slower to act. 14 days is too short. 21 days works o.k. for ionic copper products, but amine-chelated copper requires 30 days. If you are treating active ich, that needs to be 30 days beyond the date that ich spots (trophonts) were last seen.

Quick question, is using API general cure in QT for fish treating things such as brook and velvet as effective as using copper? What would the dosing schedule look like if someone wanted to use API general cure for velvet? Would it be just as effective as copper if treated on time in QT?

The packaging API General Cure says it cures a lot more diseases than it actually does. I only suggest it for treating external flukes, internal tapeworms and internal gut protozoans. It contains two drugs; praziquantel and metronidazole. The latter treats protozoans. It does NOT work well on ich or velvet though. It has some limited benefit against Brooklynella. Never add this to food though! The two drugs have two different oral doses, so if you put enough in the food for one of the drugs, the other one will be wrong.
