The Diamond Tail and Borbonius arrived yesterday and acclimated into QT. The Borbs hid all day but did pop out for a quick snack before lights out. Saw him this morning too but no pics yet.

Before we get too far removed lets have a look at some vacation pics from Big Sky, Montana.

So Corey, between this year's Montana trip and last year's Utah(?) trip, which was better? I thought I remember you saying last year's terrain was the best..... ;)

This years trip was better. We had between 6 and 12” of fresh snow every day after they got 36” in the 4 or 5 days before we arrived. That led to ropes dropping on un-tracked terrain daily which was just mind blowing. You could ski every day for 10 strait winters and not get a week like that.

From a pure terrain standpoint I still like Utah better. Thats a personal preference really. Both spots are incredible but I prefer steep/tree runs over open bowls and chutes. We’ve ski’d Utah for 6 or 7 years though and barely scratched the surface of what Big Sky had to offer in 6 days. The place is probably 5 or 6x the size of anything we have in the East with 35 odd lifts plus whatever you can hike to. Some runs could take 30 minutes top to bottom and getting from one side of the resort to the other could be an hour plus.

Nice additions I’m a sucker for Borbonius ❤ they both look good and healthy

That's only because the spelling is so close to Bourbon! ;)

Not sure if I ever shared this but the Harlequin shrimp we got to combat asterina's was assasinated within a couple of days by the Long Nose Hawk before we moved it to the biocube.

So last night I began siphoning asterina's into a sock. About 45 minutes before lights out I hit it hard and got probably 500. The this morning around 7am I took another swing and snatched another couple/three hundred. Going to continue on this road for a week or two and see if I cant get the numbers down to a manageable level. Its amazing how during the day I see a few but once the lgihts dim low and go out they are out by the multi hundreds.

Its 100% why I have so little coraline algae on the rock and I wonder if they tick off the SOS enough to limit growth in any way.... i know they ate some zoa frags/colonies I added before realizing how bad they were but do not know how they might affect SPS. We shall see.

Can you give the ln hawk a time out, mine never bothers anything, harlequins are the way to go imo?
I did, I moved him but haven't come across another Harlequin yet. In the meantime I'll attack with the siphon and see how it goes. I know I won't erradicate them but hopefully put a dent into their plague like numbers. I should have taken some pictures last night before I started. There was legit one or two asterina for every inch of rock work.

Friendly wager (Jameson) that the Borbonius will become your favorite. Spending time getting their confidence and interact with them made for a great fish. I even played peek a boo with mine in the early days. She follows me around and watches every move I make.
Very shy at first but spent time everyday like gaining confidence from a stray dog or cat.

Thanks for reminding me I need to suck out more asterina before I get the plague

Felt the exact same when I had a Sunburst Anthias. Very cool fish.
