Hi all,
I'm thinking of installing a UV sterilizer to help with the clarity of our water (seems to be constantly cloudy due to bacteria/algae blooms) but have really no idea how to do this.
I've tried watching some videos on installation but with 0 experience in plumbing / modifying the tank I'm a bit lost. I would ideally like to add this sterilizer in the sump somewhere, but I am aware that they can also be installed over the side of the tank or something.
Would anyone mind sharing simple UV setups or showing me potential ways of installing? I've included some pictures of the space available in my sump.

Cheers

The DD 20w UVC should fit in there and you can either feed it from your manifold if there’s space or a small pump like the eheim 1000 for example

Its very easy to install

Hi,

I have the same tank and just finished my setup. The sump is so large for the area I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I was going to put it on the dry side but there was no way to remove the bulb without removing the entire device.
I ended up running it off a second pump. Attaching to the side of the stand and feeding back to the return with a T connector. The plumbing on the RS 425 is not standard PVC so you have to get a piece to transition to the original line.

I'm still getting things organized on this new tank so it's still a work in progress.

Chris

Awesome, thanks Chris. I ended up getting a simple sterlizier with a funny name like "green killing machine" or something. Seems to have done the trick nicely. Your setup looks great though

I've got the same tank, just had the DD 10w installed a month ago.

I'll grab a better pic when I'm home but you can see it's mounted on the back. There's a pump connected in the sump which then feeds into the section where the return pump is.

Got a red reefer 425L (around 80-90 gallons I think?). Ended up going for the simple option instead of doing any plumbing and grabbing one of these:

After 3 or 4 days the tank was crystal clear!

Awesome! Simple set up for that hazy green water.
